I'd put Brooks there I don't know about Petrino yet. Although I agree with you that Miles sucks.

Dude, with the job Petrino did last season, coming in with a bare cupboard? He's going to be a force if he stays in Arkansas for any amount of time.

The key word being IF.

Agreed!! That is why I said yet. Not sure if he will stay long enough to get the job done. Not that he can't. Time will tell though.

What did he accomplish last year that impressed you 'chop? The three point win over Auburn? Auburn of '08? The one point win over LSU? The LSU of '08 especially considering their downward spiral/crash of '08?

I'm still in that "jury out" phase with him - unable to escape the fact he really only had one season at Louisville where he won against quality competition. And even then it was the Big East...

Of course, this is just my opinion...along with ___ everyone has one.

I gotta tell ya, terry. I think the guy did a pretty good job all things considered. And we're talking about coaches within the conference.

I look at it like this; First of all, the guy had NOTHING to work with. The Hogs defense was terrible, which in a conference like ours is a killer. Petrino had no talent on offense. Check this. Let me go Jim Mora on you for a minute. :D

"Dick?! Casey Dick? You're talking to me about Casey Dick?! Ca..! Di..?! What?! Right now I'm just hoping we can win a game?"

I mean, Casey Dick? In that offensive attack? the fact that Arkansas could win 3 games against D1 teams is an accomplishment IMHO.

They beat Tulsa. Okay, they're Tulsa, but they won 11 games and were ranked in the top 20 at one point in the polls. I believe they were 19th when they lost to Arkansas.

The win against LSU is probably a bigger win on paper than in reality but it's still a win. And given that LSU is infinitely more talented than Arkansas, they should have won that one easily in my mind. That just reinforces to me that Miles is a joker (which we all know) and was outcoached by Petrino.

The win against Auburn was........well. Okay, I can't say much about that.

All I'm saying is that, given the cards dealt, I thought Petrino did a pretty good job. Five wins is what it is, but what has me concerned is what Petrino could accomplish if he stays there any amount of time. Let him get his system in place, and recruit some players and I think they become very dangerous.

All in all, I would place him ahead of Miles and Brooks. Miles is a moron, and Brooks seemingly had UK on the rise. In Brooks' situation, they were supposed to be fairly solid coming into the season, but they suspend their QB Pulley and seemingly never recovered. Brooks had a lot of advantages going into the season but couldn't find a way to compensate and get it done after the Pulley situation.

They also lost to MSU late in the season after they had already packed it in for the year. IMO JPW wasnt much better than Dick. Sawp the olines and running game and Dick plays just as well as JPW did this season.

That's a little bit like apples and oranges though. We're talking about an Arkansas offense that wings the ball around and demands the QB make plays. Casey Dick isn't the type of QB that will thrive in that type of offense. Wilson probably wouldn't either, but we're talking about Arkansas, not BAMA's offense. BAMA was running a more conservative attack designed to play on JPW's stengths.

The point that I was trying to make too, was that Petrino did well IMHO to get the wins and production he did considering he was hamstrung at quarterback.

I think you are coming down on Casey Dick a little hard. He had a good year, as good as Jevon Snead who is getting all kinds of love right now.

Well, I don't think he's terrible or anything. He's just not a good fit at all for that type of system. I think Casey does well in a more run-first, conservative attack. I agree with 50, that he and Wilson are similar in a lot of ways.

And who predicted that he would have a good year before the year started? This guy.

Casey Dick isn't bad. At all.
