🏈 Access and Parking for the game

I'm going to the game this weekend, first one in about 6-7 years, so I know a ton has changed. A friend of mine told me that they've blocked off all of the ways I used to go, so what is the best way for getting close to the stadium? I'll have my kids and (much older) father with me, so I don't want to have to walk miles.

also, what's the best way (least amount of traffic) in and out? I'm coming from Atlanta.

Thanks!

The way I use, I get off at the Coaling exit and come down University BLVD thru Alberta. I have gone on down and gotten onto 359 and then got off at the 15th street exit. You can find some parking headed in toward Tutwiler Hall but look to pay $20-25. That will get you to within about 3-4 blocks of the stadium at the South end. Hope it helps!

thanks. I used to go that way (359), but I went further down that 15th and I'd bypass a lot of traffic, coming in on the back side and parking in the engineering area, but I was told that area no longer is open

Thanks!

i always take exit 79 (coaling exit) which turns into University Blvd. when we don't tailgate, i usually park at the soccer field lots. it costs $25 to park there and the Crimson Ride buses pickup and drop off right there. they will take you and drop you off at the back side of the quad. and that is the same place at which they pickup after the game to take you back to your lot.

you can purchase a parking pass here.....

if i have the money beforehand, i'll purchase the parking pass as you're guaranteed a parking spot in whatever lot you choose. it also makes it better if it rains a lot and the grass lots turn to mud. all the pre-purchased passes are for paved lots.

again, all of this is if we don't tailgate. if we do tailgate, we always get there early enough (before 7:00 am) where we can find a free spot real close to the quad.

How big of a hassle is it to get a ride back to your lot after the game?

Now that the interstate is almost all six laned, I think it's better to take 359 to 15th. What few SoMiss fans that attend will come from MS, so that will help traffic slightly, too. The map above is a perfect depiction of where you can pay to park around houses. Slightly south of the area in the map is the railroad track. Where 7th or 8th dead ends at the track, there is a student occupied house that has room for perhaps fifty cars. That's slightly farther to walk than shown on the map, but there's usually room.

Enjoy the game.

Tim

the Crimson Tide buses take me right back to my lot each and every time.

you have to wait in line to board the buses, but the line is constantly moving (literally, i have never had to just stand there waiting) since they have so many buses running at one time.

When I took my kids, this is where I parked (blue square area). Close enough to walk around and visit the Quad, close enough to the stadium, and easy way to get back out after the game to head back to Atlanta.

I know exactly that area, and that's what I thought I could do, but my friend told me no one let you park in their yards anymore that he was aware of. I actually used to live back a little farther, but in the same area, in Bent Tree apartments off of 10th Ave when I was in school there, back in the mid 90's.

Not sure about the yards, but they will let you park in their driveways. A good bit of those newer built homes share a driveway and they will fill them up for a few bucks. Drive through there, they will be out from with signs. I lived in Forest Lake and still own my house there, but it's too far to walk with kids, so I had to drive like a mile and pay, ha ha.

Thanks again for the tips. Bought a parking pass online and parked in lot B, took the Tide Ride to and from the stadium. Traffic was good going back down university to I-20.

Yeah, we bought a pass walked. Turned out pretty good, I was never stuck in traffic, although we were slow moving from 359 until where I-20 picks up the 3rd lanes. I got to show my kids around the engineering side, but it was as new to me as it was them. I wish it had been that nice when I was in school! I would have never known it was the same campus as it was even 10 years ago... Winning football definitely improves the education, no matter what the naysayers think!
