I've developed some pretty good friendships with a few of our DB's as some of you know. Last night, right after I got that text about Dee, I received another one about our WR's because it is beginning to be a concern of mine. That's a subject we can get into later I suppose.

Anyway, I talked with one of them a bit this morning and his statement went something like this...

T, you'd never guess who is really starting to turn some heads in our drills. I threw out a few names only to get a quick "nope" in response.

The player? Jabriel Washington. Jabriel is a 5-10, 170-pound Athlete from Jackson (Tennessee) Trinity Christian. (yes, another top flight player we've pulled out of TN) Great hands, and lightening speed was how he was described. If this translates to the fall we've probably found our next Y and Z backup.

I really think the combination of Maze, Hanks, and Carter could be something this year, but we def. need some other guys to step up. Hopefully Washington can be one of those guys.

Just to add this as a clarification.

The thoughts of JW to WR are just those, thoughts. I'm told he's ran some with the WR corps and did very well.

BUT, I'm still convinced he's going to end up as a defensive back. I had one player say he thinks he's just below Menzie in terms of talent...and, Menzie is who he considers the best of our starters.

Nice to hear, I wanted to see him have a shot with the WR's. He was pretty explosive on film but I took it with a grain of salt because of the competition he was up against. I still believe he'll end up at Corner, sure would be nice to see out wide in the wildcat though.
