🏈 A.J. McCarron complains about disrespect from Tennessee, is a hypocrite.

Alabama starting quarterback was a little miffed about Tennessee following the Crimson Tide's 45-10 vivisection of the Vols on Saturday. It had to do with Tennessee players referring to Alabama as "The Red Team" in the way Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer refers to Michigan as "The Team Up North." "Inever really say anything about the other team, but I kinda took this personal,"McCarron said. "I felt disrespected. To say we don't deserve the respect ofcalling us Alabama and calling us 'red team' and for their head coach to comeout and say they can play against anybody. "I don't think we're just anybody. Wewon two national championships in a row and we're undefeated right now. So we'renot just anybody."This is the same McCarron who said earlier last week that Tennessee was "just another school," and that that he, like his Sith master head football coach, Nick Sab...

there is some truth to this. many teams' players and coaches now repeat the same line in interviews when asked about their next game with "so and so school"... "what do you think about so-and-so university?" response: "it's just another team" or "it's week 6 of the season" or "we don't think about them we think about us"

then AJ is going to complain that they call us the "red team". he may need to step down off the horse a bit.

i don't think our team should give a crap if they call us the chartreuse team with purple polkadots and fuzzy trim. after we kick your ___, everyone calls us Alabama.

I think there is a difference. I hear alot of players/coaches say its just the next game on our schedule. blah, blah, blah.

But I don't hear Alabama players refer to other teams as the Orange team or Blue team, etc.

Either way who cares. Lets just play football.:td:

My interpretation, based on the example the author used, isn't the same.

As a premise of AJ's hypocritical nature he's taken a comment from AJ about each opponent being "faceless." AJ's comment was in the midst of his explanation of how they approach every game: it's about doing what we need to do.

Tennessee was completely focused on Alabama as evidenced by their players yelling, "Red, red, red" during drills.

The only thing I see in common is both teams were focused on Alabama.

Caveat: Perhaps Jones didn't know we're the Crimson Tide.

Just a random observation to add...did any of you see people from our fan base refer to the Vols as "Viles?" Or, did anyone see the term "Volunqueer?"

Terry, we walked around a lot before the game and there were not many UT fans to be found except the ones that had BAMA fans with them. I heard NO smack talk whatsoever before or after the game.

We did have 1 incident in our section during the game. When the Vol DB went low to tackle Cooper on about the 3rd or 4th screen we threw to him. The young Vol fan screamed " yea, I hope we f=^$ed his knee up!" He was quickly threatened by a much older BAMA fan. The guy told him that, "Amari's knee would be the least of his worries when he tossed his scrawny orange wearing ass off the upper deck!" Silence the rest of the day til the BAMA fan left at the end of the 3rd.
