Go back five years to 2009. Do you remember Florida finishing at #3 in the BCS standings while we played Texas for the BCSNC? In that month of January, if I were to tell you Florida would be struggling to beat Kentucky, in the Swamp, how many of you would have believed me? OK, how many of you would have simply laughed in my face?
Two games I really enjoyed yesterday—both of which I thought were "things of beauty." One, Arkansas versus Texas Tech and two USC vs Boston College. Why? It was good football, in my eyes, seeing two teams say "we're going to run and while you know it, you can't stop it." (BC: 452 rushing. UArk: 438 rushing.)
Did you know...the Vols 3rd down defense held OU to 3 conversions in 12 attempts?
Several days ago I threw a rhetorical question out about the bend but don't break defense. If you've missed it, since that 12 minute mark in the 2nd quarter against WVU, the defense hasn't given up an offensive touchdown.
While we're still waiting for the secondary to exert themselves I'm still watching the yards per attempt. It ranks in the middle across the NCAA, but allowing 6.5 per shows me they're keeping the plays in front of them the majority of the time.
While you were watching...did you notice how many sacks we've given up this year? And on the same note, how many rushing plays have we had with negative yardage? (I honestly don't know this answer; just a thought that crossed my mind.)
While you were watching...have you noticed how many interceptions we've had this year?
What to watch for...how many players does Florida put within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage?
