It's a big football weekend. It a game I've looked forward to seeing since the day it was originally announced.

I remembered earlier this week being disappointed when it was announced the Penn State series would be postponed. Now, looking back, I would have hated to see a Shula coached team go into Happy Valley. I wonder if we would have been competitive?

That's just one of a few random thoughts I've had about our game this weekend.

You know, there is an entire generation of football fans that don't remember the Bama / Penn St. rivalry. My son is 17 until last year he had not seen them play each other, I remember all of those years during the 80's where we played consistently.

Agree with you Terry, so glad a Saban team is going into Happy Valley!

yeah last year was the first time Bama played Penn State in my lifetime but I grew up hearin the stories from my dad and uncles so it was really cool to see that old rivalry renewed and it will be fun watchin it again this weekend.

The Penn State series was one my favorite memories growing up. I wish we'd re-new it for more than just 2 games.

I loved going to the game last year. Those ticket stubs are framed. It's meaningless now, but in 30 years? I'm going to have fun telling my grandchildren about the time I witnessed Alabama play against a Joe Paterno coached team. That was honestly something I wasn't sure that I'd ever be able to say.

bama vs penn state is the greatest thing since sliced bread..

those games in the 80's were some great ones.. the 83 game was one of my very first vivid football memories.. i was 7 years old and remember my dad going balistic.. i remember watching previous games, but i can recall the end of that game and that blue endzone like it was yesterday..

and then the game with the blocked fieldgoal.. i remember saying "just let them score so we can get the ball back" my dad never let me live that down.. lol

the unis are great too.. bama in red and penn state in white is the best looking uniforms that have ever been on the field at the same time..

When you see the picture down below you'll probably understand where I'm coming from with this additional thought...

As much as I like the tradition of the "white out" in Happy Valley if someone would have been thinking they should have made it a red, white, and blue weekend. I know, we're Crimson...but, with the anniversary of 9-11 at our doorstep? Heck, PSU is blue and white as it is...
