šŸˆ a day to remember an Alabama legend - Derrick Thomas

my greatest football memory of all time was watching penn state slowly take a win from alabama and then derrick thomas blocked that last second fieldgoal.. i was about 12 or 13 years old.. my dad jumped up and scared my mom to death. she came running in the livingroom to see what was happening.. that was a play that i will always remember vividly. he really was a once in a lifetime player.. i had a poster of him in my bedroom until i moved out on my own at about age 20.. i wish his son all the success in the world. derrick thomas is one of those reasons that bama fans think their team is the greatest..

it was pretty cool for sure.

question regarding Roger Stabach's speech...was I the only one waiting for him to stop talking? I admit, this is the first time I can remember listening to him speak - I guess I assumed he had better speaking skills.

I don't remember DT blocking a FG against Penn St?? What year was that? I missed most of '85 and '86 while in the Army.

I do remember Thomas Rayam blocking that one in '88?

I remember the '88 Bama/ Penn State game with DT running down their QB over and over. He blocked a kick or two and got a safety. It was an awesome day.

His was the only Bama jersey I ever got as a kid. I wish I still had it.

Lots of great Thomas memories but the blocked kick was Rayam (in '89--I remember it vividly because my then new boyfriend/now husband always reminds me of how I slapped his arm away when he tried to put it around me just as they were lining up for the kick!)
