For the life of me I don't know why that A-Day is not a "sell-out" each year, it being the only football we see during the annual grid iron drought of spring. Afterall its our Bama, its free, and the University is doing a increasingly better job of packaging the game along with an entertaining weekend involving other sports. Ther is a lot to draw a crowd.

For those of you who don't make it to the A-Day game, what keeps you from it?

I'll be the first to say that getting free from work long enough to make the trip from Tampa is my excuse.

Second question: What could the UA do to increase the chances of you attending?

1. my uncle and I usually go to A-Day, butI wasn't able to go the last two years because my aunt decides to throw my cousins birthday party on the same saturday, but I will definitely be going this year,

2. I wouldn't change anything, I think its awesome

I really hope this year we pack the house. I mean coming off a season like last year and winning the national title should be motivation enough for any Bama fan to come. i understand work schedules and such but for those who are off there should be masses lining up. I will be there!!

Wow there has been more than 84,000 at all the A-Day's since Saban got here, is there another school that even comes close to that? lets not forget its a glorified scrimmage either. however, i will do my best to head up that way this year though.

Last season Nebraska sold out its stadium for their spring game...and they sold tickets.

Spring games clearly have risen in the conscienceness of serious fanbases. They are yet another measuring stick by which teams are sized up. Considering that Coach Saban himself was surprised at the first one, I have to say that we as an unpropmted mass can boast to have brought about this new phenominon.

This game will be interesting in that it will be the last time football will be played in BDS with a seating capacity of less than 100K. Kind of cool, I think.

As for what they could do more, I noted that this is the second spring that the City/County is hosting an Air Show. My second question stims from the thought that attendance for both might be increased if they were held on the same weekend, aiming to make it a two-day event worthy of scheduling ahead of time for.

Any thoughts ?

I attended the 07 and 09 A days. 08 had some tricky weather that I didn't want to contend with and driving 2 hours to potentially sit in rain for a scrimmage wasn't my idea of fun. Right now, our plans are to be there in full force with my dad and his brothers.

Lately A-Day has been on the back side of our spring break, so I'm always just rolling back into ATL on that Sat. or Sun.

That said, you know how much I love Alabama football. But......with 3 kids and their sports/ activities and me flying during many weekends there is just no way it's worth it to me to juggle all that plus 8+ hours round trip for a scrimmage. I won't be back in Tuscaloosa until summer or fall. Plus, even to me the most passionate Alabama football fan, it's pretty boring...

When i live in North Alabama i would make the 2 1/2 hour trip every year. But since the family and I have moved to East Texas, it's been hard to make it. Hopefully this year we can make the trip, but work always seems to get in the way.

They could lower the bottled water prices for the a-day game :) I think its a great weekend, well worth the drive from Atlanta, a great excuse to spend some more time with the family, get a healthy dose of Alabama football to tide (pun intended) you over til fall. Plus we stay in a hotel that has an indoor heated pool... thats ALWAYS a plus :)

Made it down last year. First time ever. We live in Ohio so it makes things diffcult. My mom is a 35+ year Bama fan and last year was the first time she had ever been down there. It was an amazing experience...and we are planning on going again this year!

We learned out lesson last year we drove...this year we are flying. Hoping to bring the boyfriend down too. He is a buckeye fan. Yeah I don't know what we he thinking either. But he does like Bama, and I have told him that once he sets foot on campus he will fall in love! Just like I did.

I am also going to do a college visit while we are down there this year.

Glad it turned out to be so wonderful.
With respects to the OSU fan, the only lead in I would offer would be to understand that the great thing about college football is that every school defines what college football is in its own way. I call it Flavor. And, I would also caviot the experience by noting to the boyfriend that this is not a game, but a practice and that as such it can't be a true apples-to-apples comparison with OSU. (But I bet it beats the sweater vests off an OSU practice.

I hear you completely. I have kind of developed a bit of a dislike for the buckeye nation. They aren't exactly the most friendly of people towards other teams, and I have found it doesn't matter what team you support if it isn't the buckeyes your the enemy. But I wore my Bama gear proud while I attended there. RTR:a:
