🏈 A couple of notes/thoughts on spring camp and defense positions...

It's interesting Lake just missed his third spring practice of the year. Interesting, not concerning. He's a guy I've wondered if he's reached his peak. Depth at the DT/NG position really isn't a concern of mine. Kirven (who is coming along) and Dakota Ball are the two fighting for the 3rd position behind Ivory and Reed. That's not including Robinson who can play there as well, if need be.

Ragland getting work with the inside linebackers...specifically behind DePriest. At his size I can only think run-stuffer.

Dillon Lee played mostly on the outside last season backing up Hubbard. He's getting reps inside as well.

And on a different note...Dillon, well, he looks like a bad-ass, eh?

Believe Lake might be out due to surgery.

You may be right. I've not tried to find out.

He's there on day one, then gets hurt and has surgery?

He needed surgery and they decided to do it after day one? That doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

We've had a few pressers since day one...if it was surgery chances are we'd have heard about it.

And I soon as I post that I see TI is reporting a pec muscle issue.

I've been told that he injured a pec muscle that has sidelined him the last two practices. Source says he'll be fine and it's hoped that he'll return later in the spring.SIAP elsewhere.

had a "minor" procedure done a few days ago. That would answer why he hasn't been out there.

He is and plays like one too. One of the guys we watch games with calls him "The Big Norseman".
Some notes on Dillon from one of BOL's writers:

- It’s tough to draw too much from what we’ve seen so far, but if there’s one “winner” so far, I’d go with rising junior linebacker Dillon Lee. Lee has practiced both inside and outside and has the makings of a two-year anchor, swapping between both positions based on the situation.

He definitely has the athleticism to play in space and rush the passer. But he may be a darkhorse to fill a leadership role as well. Have seen him a couple of times helping out younger guys through drills, giving encouragement, things like that.

That's what I thought it was, but wasn't 100% so I didn't post that. Would imagine CNS will address this after spring break.

Dillon Lee was one of those players last year I really thought improved from his freshman year to his sophomore. Also a note, he's another one of those players that started on special teams and became a play maker there.

It seems like there's always a guy that makes a splash on special teams that ends up becoming a big time player on defense (Mark Barron, Dre Kirkpatrick, Landon Collins, Vinnie Sunseri, Courtney Upshaw come to mind).

I'm lookin forward to seeing how Dillon Lee is used this year, as well as the rotation on the D-Line and how the outside backers shake out.

Far as offense goes, the name I've heard alot of ppl saying that looks impressive is Blake Sims. The only video I saw was the pass on the run drills and he would be expected to be excellent in that type of drill, but supposedly he looks to have improved overall a ton. I dont think Coker is gonna come in and just win it by default.

Cameron Sims looks HUGE.

Glad to hear Dillon Lee is stepping up. Especially because he's a Georgia boy. Came from a great program called Buford. He won a ton in hiGh school, so it's in his blood. His brother went to Georgia, but he decided he wanted to win so he is in Tuscaloosa. Was curious at the beginning of last year if he'd play much, but with a stud like Mosley in front of him what can you say. He's looking a lot thicker and bigger, so I look for good things out of him this year.
