🏈 A BCS Dilemma?

I believe it is a rule of the BCS that only two teams can make the BCS from the same conference. I was wondering what happens if Ga. beats an undefeated LSU in the SEC Championship Game. The SEC champion has an automatic bid to a BCS game. This means that Alabama or LSU would be left out. LSU could lose the SECCG and be ranked #2 in the BCS and still not play for the NC. Is this right?:headscratch:

BCS champ game is about #1 vs #2, regardless of who wins any conference championship.

Georgia is a long shot at making the MNC game, I won't say it's impossible after this past weekend...because anything is possible, but they are a long shot.

Heard on the radio yesterday that there is a provision in the BCS that if #1 and #2 are from the same conference, then a 3rd team from the same conference can be in a BCS bowl if neither 1 or 2 is the conference champion.

Thanks, this is the answer I was hoping for.

That is right, #1 and #2 go to the BCS CG. If there is a conference champ other than #1 or #2, it would qualify for a BCS game as well, so long as it is ranked in the top 25.

That brings up my nightmare scenario for us:

We take care of business Saturday, and Arkansas beats LSU sufficiently so that the BCS rankings become us #1, Arky #2 and LSU #3. that puts us into the SEC CG against Georgia. Now I think we would beat Georgia 8 out of 10 times we played them, but for the purpose of my nightmare, Georgia beats us in the SEC CG and gets to the Sugar Bowl. We drop behind LSU and Arky. There is a rematch in the BCS CG, just not the one we want. And come bowl time we are in Tampa for the Outback Bowl.

That is a nightmare scenario. Right now, I think worse case is at minimum the Sugar Bowl as long as we take care of business. And that's only if the voters decide they don't want to see a rematch and keeps Alabama out for that reason alone.
