Step right up gentlemen if you wish to be included in this year's class. With the new conference rules I know we are limited to 25 signees, but is there any flexibility left for roster management as concerns greyshirts and non-qualifiers?
 
Won't that greatly decrease the interest in and offers extended to four and five star athletes with marginal academics? Prospects that have already qualified will have a tremendous advantage. Schools won't realistically take more than a couple of prospects who are on the bubble each year, and those athletes will have to be off the charts in order to potentially put a scholarship at risk.

You are absolutely right. This was probably one of the intents of the SEC rule. Apparently the academic types have thin skins when it comes to criticism of SEC practices and the intelligence of its players.
 
I know not the direction you were going, I'd be floored if DGB ends up at Bama. It appears he wants an offense that will put it in the air.

Mizzou and Arky seem to have an edge

I had the impression that he was super quite about matter, not you're saying that he's sharing items from his shopping list. I've missed something. What have you seen/read?
 
I think this offense worked out pretty well for Julio Jones, and DGB is just a larger, faster, more talented wide receiver version of Julio. Why would you go elsewhere if you want to be on TV, win championships, have 100,000 fans at your spring scrimmage, and have a coach who has proven he can develop your skills and showcase you for a pro career. I'm just sayin, it is in the best interests of the named recruits to come to Bama. ROLL TIDE!

So only a few recruits of questionable academic standing get offered by SEC schools, meaning the rest go where? Does this Football talent "trickle down" benefit Jucos or schools in other conferences?

James Carpenter, Jesse Williams, Tarrence Cody, Prestin Dial; these are names of Bama players who did not end up on other FBS college's rosters. We know that Juco is also a Plan B elsewhere for players like Cam Newton (Auburn) and Mettenburger (LSU). Is this a bad sign for those second tier schools who are eager for the SEC to raise its standards? Are the Alabamas of the world using Jucos as Minor Leagues?

If so, could this be the work around to the scholarship limits? That is to say Alabamas recruit these academically-questionable kids by the truck load and funnel them into Jucos which the school has a good relationship with. The kids told that Juco is a 1-2 tryout, both academically and football wise. Told, we will take the best 3-4 Juco kids each year from the bunch, the rest we will release to sign elsewhere.

If you recall, Slive was pretty adamant about bringing the partial qualifier back and giving them a year to acclimate to college work. They can be a part of the team, just not participate in games until that one year is completed.

SOL, yes. Gray shirting? I haven't seen anything that says it's out. Now, the new rule isn't in place until after this recruiting signing day...so, it shouldn't have any bearing on our situation with this class.
 
I'd personally like to see Barry Sanders Jr in the mix. He's well coached and is like Ingram was, well spoken and humble. From what I've seen of him on the field, he makes amazing moves. If not for RB, I'd certainly like to see him as possibly the next returner for us.
