🏈 8 NC titles?

I was just watching some videos on the net and ran across this one from fox sports. Notice the part where it says we are playing for out 8th NC. Although I do understand why it says 8, I was wondering is this the offical number?

Officially, ZERO...same as everyone else. This is the significants of them injecting the "BCS" before the BCS National Championship, and how TCU claims that they can still win the title...by claiming the AP poll which is not considered within the BCS formula.
