YES WE HAVE TURNED THE CORNER WITH REGARD TO HOW HIGH SCHOOLERS IN ALABAMA VIEW THE UNIVERSITY. HOWEVER IF WE EXPECT TO BE A TRUE CONTENDER FOR THE NC IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS, WE CAN NOT HAVE ANOTHER 7 WIN SEASON THIS YEAR. IN THE CASE OF THE POLLS AND MEDIA, PERCEPTION IS REALITY. TO COMPETE WITH 1 LOSS OHIO ST OR MICHIGAN OR USC OR WHAT OTHER NAME SCHOOL WHO PLAY WEEK SCHEDULES, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A GOOD SPOT IN THE POLLS TO START THE YEAR. IT IS SCARY TO THINK ABOUT BUT WE NEED A GOOD YEAR TO MAKE US NATIONALLY TALKED ABOUT AGAIN.THE MEDIA WOULD HELP. THE ONLY WAY TO WIN THEM OVER IS TO WIN AROUND NINE GAMES. THEN WITH OUR RECRUITING AND RESULTS ON THE FIELD WE WILL TRULY HAVE A SHOT AT A NC BECAUSE WE WOULD BE IN STRIKING DISTANCE IN THE EARLY POLLS. (EXAMPLE: SEE OHIO ST)

I read it just fine and you made some nice points there.

Is it really loud where you're working or something, why you beez shouting at us on a Tuesday afternoon?

Yeah, no need to shout. I know it's appropriate at times, but not for your whole post. Couldn't read it!

With the English language "!" denotes shouting (among other things), not All Caps.

All Caps is used quite often in advertising and most of us read it fine hundreds of times everyday. It could be in print adds, T.V. commercials, billboards, or even on the back of a bus.

The bigger issue is posters that don't bother to use the SPELL CHECK feature offered on this site, and then its usually some visiting flamer who gets that card played on them. Even then, that can still be read.

Its not an issue.

I'm Bilingual. I read English and All Cap. Let me translate.

jaycoach basically pointed out that 7 wins will not get us respected in the media, which is critical to our success in part because it dooms us to a low pre-season ranking which is too tough these day to recover from.

Jaycoach. I think you are right in that the media does seem to be taking a "Show Me" attitude with respects to Bama. This is alright with me, except that I don't see the same thing happening to Auburn. Save spring the spread on Clemson, they have new a OC and DC which should be too much to over come in year one.

Only when trying to draw attention to certain words or phrases, not entire paragraphs(hard to read). I work in advertising, it's a big no no.

On internet message boards, all caps indicates shouting. To type in all-caps is considered improper netiquette and universally frowned upon. Not typing in all-caps is the number one rule of email and internet posting.

From the Netiquette site:

"Below are the online basics you need to minimally become familiar with in order to be taken seriously in your online communications.

1. Do not type in all caps. Typing in all caps is considered yelling or screaming online. Those who type in all caps are perceived as lazy and not being considerate of those who will have to read their email. Various studies on the topic reflect that it is more difficult and takes longer to read text that is typed in all caps."

I hate to say this, but needs to be said. Given the fact we haven't done crap since 99

Final Record: 10-3, 8-1 SEC we do need to step up and shut them up. Look it's been 6 years since we've beat barn. As for saying the same thing to other teams hell there not ALABAMA!

I knew better but I was in a hurry. Sorry to get the board jumping over proper English. I was just trying to share my views. Thanks to the ones that didnt throw me under the bus. Also, I was not shouting but thanks for the lesson.

Jesus H. Christ on a popsicle stick!!!! Can we skip the rambling about the all caps?

That's not a bad point, but looking at our schedule we should have 8 wins without too much trouble. If the ball bounces our way in some games we could easily win 10. Look at how close we were to winning several games that we lost last year.

Should Win:
Tulane
Western Kentucky
Arkansas
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Arkansas State
Mississippi State

Bama will be an underdog in every other game. While I agree that it is possible to steal a game or maybe two of the remaining games I don't think you can expect to.

Clemson - 1st game of the year means strange things can happen
Georgia - We were in this game at Tuscaloosa but we'd need a miracle in Athens
Tennessee - QB position could be problematic, new OC as well
LSU - QB position will be problematic but this game is in Baton Rouge and will be very, very tough
Auburn - Another team with a new QB (or 2) and a new OC

I would say that winning three of those games is possible but not probable. It is probably best to keep your expectations low for now and just let the season play out.

8-4 5-3

I'll take wins over Tenn, Barn, and LSWHO !!!
