| RECRUIT 5-star QB Bryce Young commits to Alabama.

Have seen several interviews of him...high quality kid, great leadership qualities according to every analyst. Well, except for Farrell at rivals ...that guy must have it in for Alabama recruits, says he'd take fromm over Tua in NFL draft 🙄

You must not know much about Farrell then. Look up "asshat" in Webster's and there is a picture of him. He dumps on BAMA commits any chance he gets. People talk about the "BAMA bump" when they commit to us. They get the "Farrell fall" on Rivals.

Glad to see this

Hope he sticks

Others seem to think Mac Jones is a serviceable QB. I am not sure about that. He must be great in practice. IMO when he gets in games it still doesn't slow down. The interception he threw was horrible

I think Mac Jones had been doing a pretty good job this year. Looks much more comfortable. His interception was not good but he has improved.

Story in context: I knew these guys back when this was the number one complaint. We're on the 'net at Bama, squires hit the wires in the Quad, and we lose game day conversations...watching on TV. It's in the early nineties.

Fast forward:

Shannon Terry, CEO of 247Sports, creates Rivals. That domain and network flips around from one group to another but remains to say afloat.

Terry decides to start 247Sports. When he does, he poaches writers, coverage, and sites (Bamaonline is where it started) that switch to 247. Farrell is one of the recruiting analyst that was not asked to join the 247 group. It pissed him off.

Farrell publicly said he would devalue any recruit with Bama connections. Caught. Just like Lugs on ESPN with Julio.
Big pickup there. Hopefully it works out better than the last 5* California QB we brought in...
One thing you might like. One thing you won't.

Look at the two schools between Barnett and Young. Mater Dei! He won't shrink under pressure.

Wow. And as for the mater dei comment you're right , that program is a high school version of Bama. Young has shredded top teams throughout his career so he definitely can handle a big stage

I am a bad man but I agree with Ten Bears when he said Nick is putting on the Ritz with Mack keeping him happy and in the game for this season. Bama would be in a world of shit without him backing #13 with 2 freshmen on the roster. When Mack broke the huddle Saturday he was going to throw to a predetermined receiver come hell or high water (that is what we did in high school). I am not sure if one of those WR ran the wrong route but if not then that play (route) never needs to be run again.

Btw refresh my memory, what did Lugs say about Julio ?
Live TV now...he's covering national signing day and Julio commits to Bama. Lugs had been pushing Oklahoma publicly. As soon as we found out Julio was coming to Bama Lugs take was "he's made his bed, he'll have to sleep in it." I can't say I recall seeing as much disgust as I saw out of Lugs that day; truly upset he chose Bama over OU (and he's pushing OU because he knew AU wasn't close to being in the race.)

Granted, ESPN's recruiting group was just finding its footing. At that time we're watching differences between evaluations on several sites and ESPN's weren't reflecting the same team rankings. When asked about the difference Lugs defense was "we're looking at classes in terms of how they fill their needs" which flew directly in the face of Bama signing Julio because of the wide receiver needs.

One thing I'll give Lugs credit for is he's "slowed his roll" a bit when it comes to voicing person opinion over recruiting evaluations. As soon as he's off camera those opinions/bias/fandom is in its full flair.

Didn't Rivals one year refuse to adjust their ratings after Cyrus (I think it was him) switched his commitment last minute?

I vaguely remember something along those lines. Was it Cyrus? That'd likely be a pretty hard thing to search.

Oh, the "thing you won't like."

Young doesn't come to Bama without Sark.

...is how much time Sark has been able to spend at Mater Dei that wouldn't break the "bump rule" with recruiting. His son is on the same football team so his ability to have interactions with other teammates because his son is there? In a sense it's not a lot different than Looper and Troopers kids at AHS while Reuben was there as well...unlimited interaction, so to speak

A comment from his dad:

“I would say that it's never bad when the offense performed the way it did (against Southern Miss). You see the balance. You see the way Tua's playing. You see the way the receivers are playing. You see the way the line is blocking. And then, as a dad, seeing that Tua was never getting touched. That's always good. But just the totality of the program and being able to spend more time with Coach Saban and Sark and seeing the way the players go about their business. Not only are they great players, but they're great kids. Spending time with them during the visit, I could see Bryce here, and I could see Bryce flourishing.

I think it was. I remember people giving them grief about it on Twitter and they just refused to acknowledge it at all.

Why would I not like that Sark got a blue chip QB recruit? I've never doubted Sark as a recruiter but I still think Sark is a bad OC but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

I admit I wasn't sold on sark until he showed improvement last year in Atlanta. Right now he's got our guys processing and executing pro concepts at a high level. I don't think this offense has even hit it's highest peak yet.
