📝 5-star EDGE Keon Keeley will visit Alabama this weekend

YES! This is the guy I've had my eyes on, even after his commitment to Notre Dame a long time ago. Rumors a while back is that he liked Alabama, but he has been silent this offseason with no event participation and such. He's the guy that made me realize maybe Arch wasn't all that last season. He's a big ole boy and one of the better defensive prospects in this class. Would be nice to add to this defensive class we have going.

Multi-day visit WITH his parents only helps our cause!!!

Back in May, between the SECC's and NCAA's for the ladies, Rodney mentioned Keon's head was turning a little—two schools mention; Bama and one other...maybe Florida. It was around the Stanford weekend when someone else started saying "watch this kid." I'm involved in wondering what's happening with the ladies so I bookmarked it, ya know? Through June, mid-July, that kept popping up; "watch him."

Throughout Saban's tenure when we've talked about who to watch there's been two main things: the player camping prior to his senior season and who gets invited to the Champions Cookout.

You're mentioning parents and I couldn't agree more. This specific weekend? That shows a legitimate staff interest much like seeing a quarterback camping before his senior season—to a bigger extent.

Yes sir! It would be great to have him on board.

Is there not a lot of player interaction with the recruits and their families during this event? There is an article on Bleacher Report discussing Keon's visit and his mother mentioned that the only current BAMA player that spent time with Keon was Keanu Koht. I found this odd considering the amount of star power we have on this team and the priority BAMA has placed on flipping him.

There's more interaction during the Cookout than there is on a game day weekend or any other visit. It's an exclusive invitation list with only "high valued targets" invited.

It's also pretty much SOP for them to have one player with one recruit.

From what I recall always reading there is one "host" that is designated to show a recruit around on their visit. I'm sure we can all agree with NIL, school, Fall Camp, and other obligations it's not easy to find time on William Anderson, Dallas Turner, and Bryce Young's calendar to host every big recruit that comes to town. That being said, I would have imagined they figure out how to get one of those guy on a key flip target/opportunity like Keon Keeley. Koht is a similar build to Keeley (a little shorter), same position I believe, and also from Florida, so I imagine they felt he could handle the recruit and compared highly to him in a number of ways. I tend to question these matchups myself a good number of times, but then realize Saban knows exactly what he is doing and Koht must have his act together and be a good ambassador for the program.

Every recuit get 1 coach/ 1 players to be their personal escort for the weekend. Alabama rents out SUV to take them to places and etc. I think Saban is trying not to put lot on players to host. So, If Bama had 15 players, then you can bet Young, Anderson, Braswell, Harrell, Latu was hosting. Koht is sophomore and is from florida, like you said... but there is one thing you guys missed: Koht is from same area that Keely is from.

It make sense. Vero Beach pairs with Vero Beach. Like @TerryP said, It'ss lot of interactions at cookout.

Correct, I was attempting to make that point. And I'm sure all of the big dogs host, no doubt, you just wonder what their schedules look like with more commitments from NIL. We already know their schedules are swamped, so I'd like to know the extra workload put on them to make that extra money.
