🏈 5-star CB Marlon Humphey commits to Bama!

His recruitment and the way he dealt with sounds alot like Julio Jones. Julio HATED that spotlight and refused to do most interviews, and just wanted things to be over and done with when he signed.

I think with Marlon Humphrey comes Malachi Dupree as well. That just might be reinforced by this tweet from Marlon's sister:

Marlon's sister just now -------- Brittley Humphrey @brittleyH 19m

If Malachi commits to Bama it's gone be over with....

I asked. Bobby doesn't think he's (MD) coming to Bama.

On another note, Maudrecus has finally got his stuff together and looks to play this fall at UAB. Sad story with him and what Petrino basically allowed at Arkansas.

A few inches of snow is not being snowed in! :chat2_nana:

Ha Ha, I completely agree. It took me seven hours to get home yesterday. Thirty seven miles from Home Depot Corporate on the Northwest side of 285 to Dallas, Georgia. It was AWFUL, mainly because people simply don't know how to drive and feel like they're more important and where they have to go is a bigger deal, so patience is non-existent. I know Tuscaloosa was just as bad, but man I want out of Atlanta and to get back to Tuscaloosa. Like I siad, atleast I got this good news today, :-).

Getting Brittley and Breona confused is easy to do...both run track. IF it wasn't for Barbara being a track star at UAB, and running a track club in Birmingham, both girls would likely be running for our women's track team. One is at UAB now, the other still in high school.

They talk highly of the son in middle school, Marion, but right now it looks like basketball is his sport.

Is there any possibility of Jalen Tabor considering us, even though he committed to Florida? I know he already de-committed once from Arizona, but since it was between us and Arizona, I was wondering if anyone thought there may be a slight chance he would flip again now that our class is stone solid and one of the more exciting classes to anticipate? I have no idea if he is an early enrollee or not, so I apologize if he is.

So whos left of the guys we're targeting? I know Elam and Evans are the big ones, and whats the deal with Elam? Is he kinda in the vein of Terrence Cody? Cody wasnt really highly recruited or considered a cant miss prospect (believe he was a 3-star too) which is kinda how it seems Elam is, but Saban seems to covet him big time. I even saw somewhere where supposedly Saban sees him as a "must have" recruit.

Just yanking your chain :) Snow sucks everywhere and anywhere. Took me an hour and a half to drive 3 miles from work to home last week. I live on a hill and let's just say it was some white knuckle driving .. Meh. Some good food, good beer, and a good day of recruiting does a man (or gal) good!

I heard Atlanta looked like the scenes in the "Walking Dead" with the cars all stuck and motionless. Creepy.

You would be correct there. Looked just like the zombie apocalypse. My cousin spent the night in his car on 285. He lived in Wisconsin for three years after he graduated from Georgia Tech, and was used to it for a while, so he was walking around like a big man down here acting like it was no big deal, then he spent the night in his car. I simply had to laugh at him.

Ratings and scouting services with Elam...here's where the subjectivity really comes into play. Here's how he's ranked right now:

247Composite = 4*
247Sports = 5*
Rivals = 3*
ESPN = 4*
Scout = 4*

Back to Cody for a second. I wouldn't call him a guy that wasn't highly recruited. He certainly didn't have the same number of "big time" schools that say, Josh Frazier, does this year. But, he did have interest being shown (and offers) from some of the major schools like TN, FSU, etc.

One of the biggest drawbacks with TC was his weight. I can't recall what his exact weight was when he signed but to my recollection it was around 460lb. A lot of schools saw that as a big risk. Elam has his weight issues as well which we've touched on over on the recruiting forum here.

Rivals has a weird way of looking at NG's. I've got my issues with Farrell and his rankings but to say the least, and he has, he doesn't look at the position of NG as one of value. He basically said such about two, maybe three, weeks ago.

Elam fits in our scheme well. He's got his work to do off the field—starting with his weight issue.

I don't believe, for a second, Saban feels he's a can't miss prospect. It simply doesn't fit with how he's addressed recruits. Not only that, take a look at the aforementioned Frazier and a few of the other guys we've got slated for that position.

FWIW, we are putting a focus on that position this year. A lot of that is due to the loss of Darren Paige last season due to him not being able to get medical clearance to play football.

The way I see this we've got two spots open right now. Elam and Evans are two we're targeting. We'll have to wait and see if that ends up being more than two...there are a couple that have questions on whether they'll qualify. All are said to be close...but you never know.

(BTW, I've got degrees of respect for guys who evaluate players. Farrell is at the bottom of that list due to things he's said. It's not based on how he's ranked guys—which is questionable in itself at times—but words that have come out of his own mouth.)
