Against Vandy, Oklahoma, and Michigan, they didn't even look like a Top 50 team. I expected somewhat of a dropoff, and I still had hopeful expectations, but I certainly didn't see those kinds of games coming...dayyum!

I don't really consider a 9 win season to be "Crash and Burn" status though. It's certainly not acceptable going forward, but "Crash and Burn" is like Texas going 5-7 in 2010 only a year after they played in the national title game.
I'm not really concerned with where other coaches rank the team. All I care about is improvements from o9ne year to the next, and getting to the CFP. After that, I'm concerned with winning more games than all the other teams in the CFP. Other coaches opinions and polls don't concern me.
Yes, I realize that the CFP polls probably take into account other polls like the Coaches' Poll. But win more games and it'll take care of itself.

I don't think a 9-win season is a crash and burn type of year either. But. With the current landscape of college football, I think we are gonna need to get used to winning 9-11 games a season at most. I highly doubt we will be looking at many one or two loss seasons anymore. It's just not feasible. Winning all 12 regular season games and going through championship week and the playoffs without a loss......highly unlikely.
