Family trip to Alabama

Allan Walters, 2018 quarterback from Catholic High School in Paramus, N.J., spent several days in Tuscaloosa.
"The visit was great," said Walters. "I spent Friday watching practice and talking to the coaches. Some of my family came down from Nashville on Saturday and Sunday. Two of my cousins go to Alabama. We spent Easter together. We then went back to practice on Monday.
"We toured around the facilities on Friday. We saw more of the stadium, campus, academics and dorms on Monday. My dad went to school there. He knows the campus well. My cousins go there. They know how to get everywhere.
"All the buildings are new. They are always building something. They are always making the university better. It just feels like home there. My cousins told me how much they love being students there. They can only imagine what it would be like to be a football player. They just told me how much they love it."
Walters received an offer from the University of Alabama last summer. The best part of this trip?
"I'd say talking to Coach Saban was the best part of my visit," he said. "I like getting his input on everything. It was also great talking to Coach Kiffin and Coach Cristobal. I built a better relationship with all of them on the visit.
"My whole family spent time with Coach Saban, Coach Cristobal and Coach Kiffin during the visit. Our relationship got much better. They were telling me to finish my high school career strong. They know I have a bunch of offers. They told me to stay focused. They said I have a scholarship from them, and I have the opportunity to play there. They told me to focus on the right things and be a leader. They told me to continue perfecting my craft on-and-off the field."
The elite prospect also spent time with several Crimson Tide players.
"I have become really close with David Cornwell," Walters said. "I feel like he is a good friend of mine. I have also become close with Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett. I know Minkah Fitzpatrick. I played against him in the state championship my freshman year. I talked to Deionte Thompson and Shaun Dion Hamilton.
"Everyone said the same thing. Not everyone can be an Alabama football player. You have to have a strong work ethic. You have to be willing to come in, work hard, stay focused and follow the process. Coach Saban said he sees me as an Alabama football player. He said it's not an easy road, but it's worth it in the end."
Walters expects to return to Alabama in the summer. He is becoming very acquainted with Tuscaloosa.
"I just love the opportunity to be able to go there to compete and work hard," he said. "I love to work and study the game. You are going to get that at Alabama. They are going to get the best out of you regardless. They are going to be hard on you, but it's all going to be worth it."
