🏈 2009 Utah Utes thread

Screw Utah. If they were so confident they would have played Florida to begin the season. I don't ever want to hear that nobody will play you. Florida tried to schedule a game but Utah wanted Florida to pay them a million bucks. Why should anyone pay a team that went to a BCS game a million bucks just for the chance to play them? That's insane, especially when you cry to the media about how nobody wants to play you.

I don't know the details of this, but if Florida refused to do a home and home series with Utah and just wanted a game in the Swamp, I'd ask for some $$$$ as well.

Some? Of course. But not what you would pay some other easy win. Besides why should Florida do a home and home with Utah? UTAH? Give me a freaking break. :lance:

Utah had a chance to play a early game with a SEC team but was too greedy to take the offer.

By "some", I mean the lost revenue of not having their own home game. And why shouldn't Florida play them? It's not like Florida's in the habit of scheduling a crazy OOC games. After looking at their schedule they have two serious threats to their perfect season (granted anything can happen in college football) LSU and Georgia. I believe Utah proved they could play with the best of us last year.

Utah already had three preseason top 25 teams scheduled on the road. There's no reason why Utah take that game, especially if it's just a one-and-done.

Haha, you're more optimistic than I am. :) An Alabama rematch for the BCS title would be fine by me, though!

I'm excited to see what Alabama does tomorrow night. I'll have my Bama gear on with a few cold ones, ready to watch the Tide roll!

I don't want ANYMORE of the Utes. They beat us bad enough the first time. ;)

Why are ya'll still talking about the utes on a Bama website? It's akin to holding the pocket in prison. Yes they kicked the $hit out of us but I for one am tired of any thing Utah. :swear:
It is called southern hospitality and mutual respect.

SkinnyUte and BamaUte have both been class acts and handle the ribbing like true football fans.
Plus that was last year. Does not bother me at all to talk about them whoopin' our team. 'Cause it does not matter this year :a:

What he said.

So, um, it turns out giving up 330 rushing yards and 55 points isn't very much fun.

TCU chewed us up and spit us out. They're an incredible team. Hopefully they get the chance to play a really good team to prove to the nation how good they actually are. But more than likely, they play the ACC champ or Penn St. Yuck.

As for Utah, I'm glad there's no one left on our schedule that can expose our linebackers like the Frogs did. Finishing 10-2 would be a big accomplishment considering all that we lost heading into the year, but beating BYU in Provo will be tough.

BamaUte - I was @ the game and thought for a while that you guys were gonna hang with them, but TCU kept finding a way to score. TCU is a pretty cool environment to see a football game, from the fans I met, they all seemed to be a pretty good bunch of folks.

I really hoped that Utah would keep the game close, but that only happened the 1st QTR. Utah moved the ball on them a few times with ease, but other times, it was 3-and-out. Hughes #98 for TCU was all over you guys, not bad for a DE that played RB in high school.

TCU's D is young, I think I heard someone say that they return everyone.

Believe it or not, that's their third sellout in school history. But I've had only positive interactions with their fans, and hopefully this gets that fanbase going. They were impressive at GameDay, and that crowd was electric during the game.

TCU graduates five defensive starters next year, but that's about what they graduated from last year's team, and they got better, so I will continue to assume they'll be nasty unless proven otherwise. They only lose two offensive starters, which is frightening.

Of course, I was pulling for the Utes last weekend as well - as I do every weekend now since last year's Sugar Bowl. TCU is quite very impressive, though I really thought Utah could pull off the upset. I was so hoping that Utah would be playing Boise St, because I think y'all would expose them.

Nonetheless, 10-2 is darn good year (!) especially in light of the turn over. I think Utah would spank just about any ACC opponent.

Roll Tide and Go Utes!
