I'm with you on the most of this but your last sentence caught my eye.

6-6, 3-5 in the SEC means they lose one OOC game. Who—Clemson or NC State? You know, they have NC State on the road...

NC State is itching to prove they are not as bad as SC made them look a year ago. There is a pretty good chance SC bites the big one up there. That will also be a telling game regarding their OL and Garcia.

You might recall the piece I did on South Carolina, Spurrier and their expectations and hopes—no matter how off base?

I had a conversation with one of our Ad execs for a magazine we publish. He was just going on and on and on about how good Garcia looked in their first practice...completing 95% of his passes, perfectly timed, not missing a guy but receivers dropping a few. "Less than five drops" was his quote. ALL-American type of QB was his description of Garcia...

I was very complimentary to him and wished him the best...but, about as soon as I did so we crossed paths with the S. Car. beat writer for our main paper here.

I asked him what his impression was (ad exec still there mind you) of the practice.

He said, and I quote.

"The team looked OK. But, what on earth can you tell when there isn't any defense and offense is running their routes at half-speed?"

I think I could hit those routes with precision...after a bottle of Yeager.
