The University of Alabama football team, who accepted a bid for its NCAA record 55th bowl appearance, held its 2007 team banquet in the Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa on Sunday, Dec. 2.

That is pretty telling because obviously Rashad and Antoine are juniors.

And all this talk about a team meeting and what it meant. Geez, don't you love how it is to watch and see people react?

I guess all coaches have their different rules, but I thought onlr Sr's were eligible for Permanent Captains. Good Choices IMO though.

Yes it is very telling....

Character is a big part of football. Listening to the two in interviews you can tell both are intelligent, driven individuals who want good things for the team.

And I really wish Darren Mustin had another year...gonna miss him flying around the field.

Jarret Johnson and Tyler Watts were elected team captains for both their Jr and Sr years, so it has happened. Some coaches do limit it to Sr's only though.

Things not spoken sometimes speak louder than things that are...as do absences.

Senior leadership

From everything that I have seen this year and judging from the fact that 2 juniors were chosen as this years captains it is clearly obvious that part of our lack of success was attributed to a lack of senior leadership. I hope that the next years group of seniors step up and take their positions as leaders of the team.

It's almost pitiful that most of the seniors couldn't even lead this team. I like that Rashad and Antoine got their due. Also, I would of been furious if Mustin didn't get the nod as a Captain.

Well this years juniors will be next years seniors so I am assuming that they will step up, which is a very promising aspect for next season. Though (with no player bashing meant) I'm not sure why they chose some of those players because I'm pretty sure one of them was in some trouble for a while. Doesn't sound like leadership to me.

Yeah text book thing (AC)...big whoop...that is not a character issue that was a flaw in the system.

This one makes no sense to me:

Iron Man Award
Winners: Marcus Carter and Greg McElroy

Huh??? I guess I'm assuming too much on what this award is all about.

Carter makes sense because I don’t think I remember a single defensive play this year when he wasn’t on the field.

McElroy I’m not sure about. I would assume the award means he didn’t miss a practice or something?

Hmmmm, me thinks maybe the attitude rumors I heard about Greg were untrue.

The rumors I heard about Greg were that he was considering transferring because of lack of playing time. The rumors state that Fanuzzi and Jackson may pass him on the depth chart next year.

Yeah, I didn't believe those attitude rumors. The other ones I put more stock in.
