šŸˆ #11 FSU at Pitt—Alabama native Jameis Winston's debut brings national attention

#11 FSU at Pitt

He's 8 for 8 for 104 yards and 2 TDs in just over a quarter. He looks great out there.

Pitt started off hot, their running game is pretty good. My friend just started law school at Pitt and is at his first ever football game there now!

Okay this guy is something special. Just converted a 1st and 30.

He is now 17/18, 240 yards, has thrown 3 TDs, and scored one rushing. And the lone incompletion came on an iffy out of bounds call. And that's just the first half. Granted, it's Pitt, but still.

If he can keep this up all season ..

He looks really good against the three straight BBVA Compass bowl team.

That lost (a term used loosely) to the Ole Miss Rebels by three touchdowns this past bowl season...the same Ole Miss that finished 9th in the SEC.

This Pitt team...

Remember making fun of Notre Dame because they struggled against Pitt?

Different year, same program.

Great numbers by JW.

But let's be honest. FSU was supposed to win this way.

They failed to mention the Texas stuff.

The early mentions I've seen about Texas don't pass the logic test with me. I'm sure technically it's true but when you are recruiting someone like him at that position you're narrowing down choices pretty quickly. I'm inclined to believe—especially with Brown's propensity to sign kids early—he grabbed a QB for that class and moved on.

This is a crazy story right now.

This part about...

(just ran a quick search for Jameis' dad's name and found a new twitter feed from Tuscaloosa News—D.C. Reeves. It's added over on the news page, Alabama twitter, and has his stuff. Click on his account...good read there.)

...about Jameis Winston's dad turning up the volume on the TV when coaches were making their in-home visits? Seeing him talk about that as his evaluation process makes me pause. It also sort of taints his other answers in that article.

All of that, combined with what we know about his recruitment?

One thing for sure.

His dad still needs to go back to his living room couch and watch college football.

I work with his mom, and she has a huge grin this morning. I told her I was going to get her a "Johnny Who" button, and she very modestly said that she was just glad he had played well.

My opinion of course, but I think that if our basedall program hadn't hit bottom when we recruited him, he would be in crimson now.
