Apparently, UA has started sending out copies of its potential 2009 football schedule to boosters and season-ticket holders.

It's worth acknowledging because it is out there (and it does indeed mesh with some of what I'd already heard). But be warned: One UA official cautioned today that this schedule is tentative, not finalized and could change in the near future.

09/05 -- Virginia Tech (in Atlanta)
09/12 -- FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
09/19 -- NORTH TEXAS

09/26 -- ARKANSAS
10/03 -- at Kentucky
10/10 -- at Ole Miss
10/17 -- SOUTH CAROLINA
10/24 -- TENNESSEE
11/07 -- LSU
11/14 -- at Mississippi State
11/21 -- UT-CHATTANOOGA
11/28 -- at Auburn

For what it's worth, UT-Chattanooga has confirmed that November date to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

I hope it does change, the media would like nothing more than to harp on OUR OOC Schedule while making another run in '09

I don't care about our OOC schedule any more. It seems to me that only a few teams are playing a quality one anyway and they're the ones paying the piper for it.

No one seems to care that media darlings USC and Notre Dame play no one all year long, and earlier this season an article was written about Penn State almost glorifying their mediocre schedule. The writer of the article basically stated,.. don't hate Joe Peterno because he's playing the system. If he's allowed to get by with it, then more power to him for taking advantage of it.

If OOC SOS isn't a major factor in the BCS any more then we shouldn't obligate ourselves to schedule upper echelon teams outside of the SEC.

Not much different than this years schedule

clemson = virgina tech
Tulane = North Texas
western kentucky = fla. international
Arkansas state = UT chatanooga

not a big difference there.

We play in the SEC, we don't need to play a bunch of tough OOC teams. 1 per year is fine. Our SEC schedule keeps our strength of schedule respectable. SEC play is the most physical brand football in the nation, and it just isn't a good idea to schedule other top tier teams in the middle (or the end) of the season.

Ouch...UT-Chattanooga...Good revenue for them! They're talking about discontining football.

Surely you mean,

North Texas = Western Kentucky
Tulane = UT Chat
Ark St = Fla Intl

North Texas was 1-11 this season with their only win coming against Western Kentucky. They were dead last in defense in the nation giving up over 50 per game. Tulane at least won TWO games this year.

On paper this is a "harder" schedule.

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/polls/120/index2

This Year:
Clemson - 38
Tulane - 116
western kentucky -120 (worst in the country)
Arkansas state -84

Next Year:
virgina tech - 19
fla. international - 102
North Texas - 119 (second worst in the country)
UT Chattanooga - N/A

This is based on this year's ranking so Im sure it will be alot diff least year but you get the picture.[/b]

My thoughts exactly...as soon as I saw N. Tx. on the schedule I thought about his "expert picks" and "N. Tx hatin' devotion."

Care to guess who'll get the assignment of the N. Texas preview next year? :lol:

No week off before any opponent in 09?

We get a week off for LSU:

10/24 -- TENNESSEE
11/07 -- LSU

Halloween is the bye week.

Let me lay some more North Texas stats on you.

They allowed 201 yards rushing and 281 yards passing per game. Just imagine the gawdy stats Coffee, Julio, and company will have in this game.

playing another BCS conference champ in VTech combined with our SEC schedule (and SEC title game) is difficult enough in my opinion.

Brain in meltdown atm...finals this week and next.

I agree with you Porter, we don't have to bolster our OOC games to maybe 1 a year since we play in the SEC. The conference is tough enough. Playing more big name opponents looks better for those wanting to resell any tickets that they get their hands on.

There's not a team on that schedule that will be better than us next year. Expect great things, guys. The only games that I think will be toss up are VT,SCar,AUB. Don't worry about LSU, guys, they'll suck.
