šŸˆ Wow, Minnesota AD fired over drunken text messages to U of Minnesota employee

The University of Minnesota's athletic director resigned on Friday, admitting he drank too much at a recent event and sent ''inappropriate texts'' to colleagues that were reported as sexual harassment. Norwood Teague, who held the job for three years, issued a statement through television station KARE 11 in which he said he drank too much on the night in question and is seeking treatment for his alcohol problems. ''I behaved badly towards nice people and sent truly inappropriate texts,'' Teague said.

Norwood Teague.

Just caught this on twitter. I haven't seen the text yet, but sounds like they were bad enough to force him to resign (if he didn't resign, he would have been fired).

He gets no termination package, but keeps healthcare benefits.

There goes $500k a year in salary...

Just read the text on deadspin. Wondering how many times he's done this before... Sounds to me there might have been some casual flirting in the office that lead up to this, perhaps I'm wrong.

The chick was flirting with him through most of it. Not surprising he went where he did given he was trashed.

He should be able to say "Sorry, I was drunk. I'll try be more careful when drunk in the future."

If he was a low level employee, he might get off with a warning and some probation. But he's the boss and behavior like that to a subordinate will get you fired or in a lawsuit real quick.

I see. I read the headline as "Minnesota AD sends texts to U of M employee" as U of M as in Michigan. Prob would have put "Minn" instead of U of M.
I think of Michigan as the U of M, sort of if there was a headline that said "Arkansas AD sends texts to U of A employee," I would read it as if it was sent to a Bama employee.

So yeah if he sent it to a subordinate, then, yeah I see why he would have been fired.

Read the texts and the statement of the employee. It wasn't "Hey, you're cute!"
