Damn, I wanted to do a home-home series.

I'll look forward to seeing the Wisconsin student section. IMO the best in the nation when it comes to parties and creating a fun atmosphere. Win or lose, they're there.

Wisconsin wanted the H/H series also, but Bama had only 2015 and 2018 open in the immediate future and was not receptive to the split year series. Of course the Wisconsin fans are saying that Bama is afraid to come to Madison.

It appears that Bama is attempting to do both the H/H and a neutral site game every 3 years. They had a H/H scheduled with GT for 2013-2014, and left 2015 open for a neutral site game. They have a H/H scheduled with Michigan State in 2016-2017 and I assume 2018 will be used for a neutral site game rather than have another H/H scheduled in 2018-2019.

Can you not have 2 H/H series? If you could, I think having both Wisconsin and Michigan State in one year would be a pretty good and fun schedule. Of course, I won't complain. More attraction for Texas recruits.

You most certainly could do two. But Bama chooses to do only one with the other 3 OOC teams barely having a pluse. And I hate it! I long for schedules like 1977-78. Years in which Bama had their NC given to ND ('77) and won the NC ('78). So what you are proposing can and has been done by Bama without jeopardizing the ultimate goals.

In 1977 Bama's OOC opponents were; at Nebraska, at Southern Cal, Louisville, and Miami (Florida). In 1978 they were; Nebraska, at Missouri, Southern Cal, at Washington, and Virginia Tech.

In 1977 Bama and ND lost only one game. Both on the road on the same day. Bama at Nebraska, and ND to Ole Miss in Jackson. The same Ole Miss that Bama had beaten by 3 TDs the week before in B'ham. In 1978 Bama lost only to Southern Cal.

While all the major schools will schedule a rooty-poot at least once a year.......I think with the advent of the 4 team play off, that strength of schedule is going to play a part again in how you are ranked. I don't think it will be like it was in the early years of the BCS, but will go back to making a difference. I think the stink about OSU and us playing LSU in a rematch had a little to do with that. This is what I have heard on the radio from all the talking heads around town.

Either way I don't think we will have the likes of gaps full off sorry teams. One thing Saban has done is made sure that we had one real good OOC game every year. This year we really only have 2 weak teams. Georgia State and Chattanooga. VT and Colorado are the other 2 ooc games, one is pretty good and well respected in the media, and the other, I think was a favor to McElwain.

Would like to bring back the rivalry versus Nebraska that's for sure. Another Oklahoma H-H series would be nice. Idk, if we played that type of schedule again, there would be no doubt who the best team in America is. Though, there really isn't already.

I think that a great deal depends on what the SEC does with the conference schedule. Many, including CNS, want the SEC to go to 9 conference games a year. That would certainly affect future OOC scheduling.

I don't like us playing the Georgia States of the world at all in football. However, as someone put it, that is the only time when the average Bama fan can be sure of getting a ticket so he can take his family to a game. If we are going to continue to do this, though, I would like to see us give UNA and South Alabama games. They are no threat to us in recruiting or prestige. The same could be said for playing UAB, but I imagine that there would be a lot of resistance there.

Yeah, the only game I would have been able to afford last year was WCU and even that was pricey!

Do UNA and USA ever get to play each other? I don't know much about them besides the fact that the Jaguars are newer.

Also, just curious, why do you think there'd be resistance to playing UAB?

UAB is a sister school of UA. There would be no benefits for Alabama.

UNA is in division 2 I believe. That would be a pretty good rivalry though if they started it. I know USA played UAB and Troy and sold out both games.
