UCLA released head football coach Karl Dorrell after a 6-6 season. Dorrell was 35-27 during his five-year tenure with the Bruins.

Director of athletics – Steve Pederson was named athletics director at Pittsburgh.



Men’s basketball – Joel DePagter was named at Lawrence. He had been leading the program on an interim basis.



Deaths – Former Truman State sports information director Melissa Ware died November 30. She was 42.
