The NFL Players Association's 21st Rookie Premiere gathered 41 2015 draft picks in Los Angeles on the last weekend in May for seminars and orientation. The Rookie Premiere is hosted by the NFLPA through its marketing and licensing arm, NFL Players Inc., and features programs on financial planning and brand building and connects the league's most marketable rookies with NFLPA business partners.
But it also features the first photographs of the rookies in their new NFL uniforms as they pose for trading card companies Panini America and Topps. Some of the jerseys from those photo sessions, held at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, went on the eBay auction block though Fanatics Authentic in June.
The two jerseys that drew the biggest bids were worn by the first two players picked in the draft. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected quarterback Jameis Winston, a former Hueytown High School star, with the No. 1 choice, and his jersey went for a winning bid of $2,025. The Tennessee Titans selected quarterback Marcus Mariota with the second choice, and the winning bid for his jersey came in at $2,200.
The top bids for the two quarterbacks' jerseys more than double the price paid for any of the other available jerseys.
Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper went to the Oakland Raiders with the fourth pick in the draft, and his jersey went for $908.98. Cooper and West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White were debated as the best wide receiver available in this year's draft. White went seventh in the selections to the Chicago Bears, but his jersey didn't approach Cooper's, going for $430.
