He began at K-State in 1988 and I beleive coached there up until about 2003 or 2004? Somewhere in there. He spent a number of years at K-State and made the program relevant. Not sure if you could consider them a national power or not, but they definately a regional power and enjoyed a good deal of success under Snyder. School's first ever #1 ranking was under him and they routinely won a ton of games most years and played in some pretty good bowls.As a recruiter he's noted for his reliance on JUCO players, much like Sherrill used to do at State.Players he's coached include Mark Simoneau, Michael Bishop, Martin Grammatica, Terrance Newman (Dallas Cowboys), Derren Sproles (S.D.), and Quincy Morgan.
