🏈 Who could you see as the successor to Saban ?

Let's face it, the ride will eventually come to an end, and I don't see Saban as the kind of guy that just rides around the field in a golf cart being the figurehead of the program (looking at you Bobby Bowden). So who could you see as a replacement? I know that the knee jerk reaction is Dabo, but he may not leave a successful program to be in Saban's shadow. As a fanbase, we do have a slight tendency to compare new coaches to old coaches.

You don't want to be the man that replaces "Tha Man!" With that said, if you can recruit at a pretty high level, you can win a Natty or two. I know Dabo rubs people the wrong way with his "rah rah" style and demeanor, but he might take that challenge.

I want Bill Clark. He is about halfway between Saban and Dabo, personality wise. He also has won at every stop, even under ridiculous circumstances, like a program that got a virtual "death penalty", taking them to a bowl game in their first year back. Look at SMU and how long it took them to get back to a bowl game(I know, different circumstances but still). He was only at my alma mater for one year but led them to their first conference title and postseason since joining FCS, setting a ton of single season records at JSU(from Wiki; During his only season as head coach at Jacksonville State, Clark led the Gamecocks to their first playoff victories, 49 school records, 13 OVC records and three NCAA records.), before getting snapped up by UAB. He also led the high school team, he was with before moving to the college game, to back to back state titles.

There are very, very, very, very few absolute certainties in this world. That Bill Clark will NOT be Alabama's next head football coach, is an absolute certainty.

It's the off-season. So, hypothetically ... as in just for the hell of this thread, a story could be written about a search that ran like this ...

Between a playoff weekend and the conclusion of the regular season Saban announces he's retiring. After the title, Bama's first choice--Dabo--hasn't decided yet.

This is what we know. Dabo and Saban have been friends for quite some time. It's no secret. We've seen several people of national repute say Saban has recommended Dabo to UA for the position. He's talked with Dabo about the position as well.

Somebody MIGHT "snap him up" at a bigger school but IF Alabama ever came calling (no matter if its next year or 6 years from now) he would come running. I'm saying that offer will never be made. Not unless Saban coaches for 5 for more years and in that five years he goes to a bigger school and turns it into a power. Otherwise, zero chance whatsoever. The thought that if Saban decided to retire next year, Alabama would replace one of the top 2 or 3 greatest coaches of ALL TIME with a coach that was leading Jacksonville State three years ago is pretty far fetched, dont you think?

No matter who the choice is, it’s going to be a bumpy ride following CNS, much like CRP wh n he followed Coach Bryant. As of right now, I can’t put a name on anyone I would want to come in tonight. Let me think on this one.
