YAC requires two things from the offense:  a receiver with the speed to break away and a throw from the QB that allows them to do so.  Throw behind the receiver or cause them to slow down to come to the ball and that YAC becomes < 5.  Throw so they can catch it in stride and keep running and it grows exponentially.
