🧑‍🍳 What do ya know...'nother food thread. I've heard about this place. A buffet, acclaimed as the worlds best, for about $70 ... bucket list stuff.

One of my favorite restaurants, in my life, was a buffet: "Old Country Buffet." And it was; old southern, country food. Was it Golden Corral that had the $20 all you can eat thing on Friday's? I went a couple of three times. I never ate their meat (lasagna, strangely enough, was pretty good) but tore the hell out of that place.

That's a place I'd like to try. Usually avoid buffets, quality is just usually not there, but hit some in Vegas abs reno that were great

I traded free passes for free meals at that "Old Country Buffet" just to hit the salad bar. Until I tried their catfish one day. And then...I'm not a country fried steak guy, but even their's was good.

My office was 100 yards from the place. No windows...so, it was a "smoke, smoke, and nap." Programming. I needed peace and quiet.

I miss that food...geez.

I'll bet you could pull some good tourist money from a well run buffet...

My brother and I have been seeking out the better home cooked food restaurants with steam tables. So far we have found four we really like. Victoria's in Jasper, Irondale Cafe and the White House in Warrior. Another we like is Lee's in Dora = Sumiton on 78. Country cooking but not steam table any longer, order off the menu. Honorable mention is Nikki's on Finley ave. It is still good with many choices, but not AS good as in years past. ( Or is it passed? ) Another if we happen to be in the area is Snead Cafe on 278 in Snead.

Yep... they are pricey these days but a handful of them are good.

One place on my list is Red's Little Schoolhouse in Grady... Heard good things and it's a neat place/concept. I'm just never in that area these days.

I am pretty sure I've never been to Grady and that probably ain't changing any time soon. Guessing southern food on their buffet?

The grill in Thomasville has a decent buffet, not good but decent. We usually eat at David's but if I want vegetables and we're there I'll eat at the grill.

Yes, and supposedly really good homemade pies. Served up in a really old (former) schoolhouse.

Years back... Shula years a UA... the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover had a Fri and Sat night buffet (and I think a Sun brunch buffet?). Anyway, the Sat night buffet has prime rib on it and we'd hit that on the way home from afternoon Bama games. That shit was good... usually the highlight of the day after a Bama loss. LOL

OH YES, it was open on Sunday's. Hell of a brunch...that night club/day club they had as a disco is one reason I stopped going on Sunday's. I want to say Hollywood but it may be because I've been laughing at some of the RW takes.

Living in Tuscaloosa and driving to B-ham for brunch...on a Sunday morning...should tell everyone how good that was.

@Krimson @It Takes Eleven think with me here and tell me where I'm wrong...if you are here you don't have anything else to do at the minute.

Hyman's made a shit load of money with "Oprah ate here." I can name countless examples like that one in other places downtown...there's a fuckin' plaque over the table. Another place, and story, I can't recall...everywhere is the point.

A multi-station, celeb/chef endorsed buffet, in the tourist area of Charleston. Easy, $100 a head. A Sunday brunch an easy buck and a quarter... I'll leave food cost out of Sunday because it pays Monday to be off.

That would be a shit load of money to open. It's laugh out loud money in three years because people are that stupid: and the food is good.

People line up for White Cotton because of the damn name. That's a bill a head.

You treat a tourist with a black tie waiter...and that guy is from W VA in Chas...yeah. Kayne, ya know what I mean with that shit. Tim, you don't care. 🙃

Location, location...
