What up with this...

State reduces funding by $38M, Florida drops Computer Science Depart to save $1.7M, Athletics increases cost by $2M, State creates a new University "Florida Polytechnic University".

Allowing this is just outright dumb. Their president should protest the hell outta this.

With the stand up of Fla Tech and the specific emphasis on Computers and Math there, the University System for the state chose to spend money in other pressing areas as opposed to sustaining a redundant Computer Science program within itself.


Another way to think of it is that the Computer Science would never have been at Florida in the first place had Florida Tech been in place before. So Florida was lucky to have had it in the first place.
