Trickle Down Economics and Pigskin Prognostication Week 11
November 12, 2008
By Mitchell Carter (Big_Fan)

Mississippi State at Alabama

Looking Back:

Purple and gold are known far and wide as the colors of royalty. It is also well known that many of the ruling monarchs were a few French fries short of a happy meal, due to the fact that their family trees didnā€™t branch very much ā€“ they wanted the power to stay ā€œin the family,ā€ so to speak. The Latin period of the late Roman Empire gave rise to the term ā€œlunatic,ā€ from the Latin ā€œluna,ā€ meaning ā€œmoon.ā€ Perhaps the combination of these facts, gives some insight into the behavior of the ā€œpurple and gold clad heathens,ā€ who gather en masse on Saturday nights in Baton Rouge.

On to Mississippi State in the Football section of our blog

34-0? I hope that pans out for true.

When I read it I had the same question.

I'd love to see that happen, believe you me.

Gut tells me right now it'll be a lower scoring ball game...mainly due to the team being tired both physically and emotionally.

That is more along the way I am thinking as well. I don't see them putting more than 14-17 on us and I think we can put close to 30 on them but more like 27.

27-14 Bama

You know, I thought the same thing when I was putting this together, but something made me discount that.

A 2 game winning streak by MSU.

I think the team will be emotionally psyched. Against LSU we were flat, so I don't think emotion was really running that high.

Another issue will be MSU's inability to do anything offensively. They have a decent defense, but it will break before ours does.

McElroy will get some reps in this one.

When I get my piece finished, it'll get more in depth with how I see this game going. (teaser, I know.)

Just as a hint, think of a game where we relied on Toderick Malone and Curtis Brown. I don't see that many points scored by MSU, but I see that kind of contest in terms of hard fought.

As do I. A win for MSU can't savetheir season but it would go a LONG way toward helping sooth their pain.

Still, Big Fan makes a good point. If I remember arights Coach Saban still has the players keep the score of last years MSU game in their lockers. I also agree we looked flat against LSU.

I just want to win. I don't care if the score is 3-2.

I don't feel quite as strongly about 34-0 as I did 49-14 over Arkansas, but I feel better about it than I did the LSU game. I was really worried about LSU, but I went with my analysis over my gut. This game I get the same vibe from both analysis and gut feeling...for whatever that is worth...+$0.50 will buy a can of Faygo.
