Looking Back:
Purple and gold are known far and wide as the colors of royalty. It is also well known that many of the ruling monarchs were a few French fries short of a happy meal, due to the fact that their family trees didn’t branch very much – they wanted the power to stay “in the family,” so to speak. The Latin period of the late Roman Empire gave rise to the term “lunatic,” from the Latin “luna,” meaning “moon.” Perhaps the combination of these facts, gives some insight into the behavior of the “purple and gold clad heathens,” who gather en masse on Saturday nights in Baton Rouge.
