Doubt any of you have been to Plano, TX, so I'll give you some insight to the area Toyota is moving to. Toyota just announced on Monday they are moving outta Torrance, CA to Plano. Pretty big news.

Plano has a population of about 275,000 people and was the home of Ross Perot's company EDS which started a lot of these large corporation moves. The following corporate headquarters are all within 1 mile of each other:
  • EDS was bought out by HP a few years ago and their campus has been chopped up and sold/leased to other companies. (REALLY REALLY impressive campus)
  • JCPenney moved out here in the 1990's from New York - another impressive campus.
  • Frito Lay
  • Dr Pepper Snapple
  • Soon to be FedEx Office (Kinko's) - about 1200 employees.
  • Toyota (which will have about 4000 employees)
  • RentACenter
Not to mention there are other offices that have 500+ employees all in the same area. Pepsico, Intuit,
USAA - took over an AT&T location, they have ~700 employee IT group here now, T-Mobile (up in Frisco).
