šŸˆ Touchdown Alabama Magazine: Time for Alabama Fans To Face the Ugly Truth

A long article that I'm not going to take the time to pick apart, but a little perspective is in order. The easiest card to knock down is the idea that it's bad if your leading rusher doesn't lead in yards per carry. A 6.0 YPC isn't bad for a starting back that has to do a lot of the early work as an O-line and game plans bludgeon teams into submission. The backups, particularly third stringers, roll in when a team in tired and/or demoralized and gobble up yardage.

It takes seconds to add depth to analysis.

As the starter last year, Lacy didn't lead the team in YPC. Drake did.
As the starter the year before, Richardson didn't lead the team in YPC. Lacy did.
As the starter the year before, Ingram didn't. Lacy did.

Forgetting the fact that the writer BADLY needs a proof reader and a brush-up night course in sentence writing, he targets a lot of obvious issues, but those issues are by no means, ugly truths.

Issues aside, there isn't a team in College ball that doesn't need to recalibrate their system and fine tune their playing philosophy every so often. There's no revelation or ugly truth with Alabama. It's just reality. It's just football. And that's nothing more than going back to the drawing board, shoring up the problems, and righting the play book so we can kick some butt next year with a new and improved skill set. But make no mistake about it. Even with this year in retrospect, the Tide has done a phenomenal job over the past 5 years. Downright legendary, in fact. We are the Star Trek Enterprise of College football; gone where no man has gone before! And we can thank God we're not the last years Super Bowl Ravens who didn't even make the playoffs this year. Now there is an ugly truth.

Roll Tide!

I believe that we didn't have the pounding grinder offense this year that we had last year. We couldn't wear down a defense with the run grind that we did last year. I missed that all season. Also the Defense couldn't stop a speed team consistently. All is not lost and next year will have a new QB plus a lot of changes. CNS always makes changes. We will be great. Keep the faith.

There is a great reason Nick makes $7 million yearly, a WHOLE lot more than I make. I also do not understand some of the decisions made during the game, and I sat through the nightmare personally, in the stands. Why did we keep relying on Cade's kicking when he couldn't put a kickoff in the end zone if his life depended on it? Why pass so much when your running game is working so well, especially with the offensive line unable to adequately protect the QB? Why play Yeldon so much when he is prone to fumbles in the end zone, and someone else is having a better night? I don't understand either. However, I haven't coached a team to 3 National Championships in the past 4 years. Nick has his reasons, and he will fix it and get it right. Hopefully we will pick up Marlon Humphrey, who along with Tony Brown gives us some speed in the secondary. They do need experience however. My only real difficulty is with our offensive line. The talent was there. CK actually played worse this year than he did last year. I would not be real unhappy to see Saban looking for a new line coach. But Nick knows best. In any event, 11-2 is not a bad season, and it shouldn't be difficult to find another "Game Manager" quarterback. RTR my friends.

Honestly I stopped reading after the comment about Yeldon not being as "exciting" as previous backs... stop it. Eleven already obliterated your ridiculous assessment that Yeldon wasnt that great because he didnt lead the team in YPC. And saying Coop "phoned in" the season despite repeated injuries, come on man... We're all spoiled but this is getting ridiculous.
