@ChaseGoodbread: RT @Crimson_Cover: Source tells us Scott Cochran isn't the UA staffer most likely to follow Smart to Georgia. Better chance that LB coach Tosh Lupoi follows.
I just don't see Saban offering Tosh the DC position yet. He was like a G.A. or Defensive staffer just a year ago. Shit our DB coach was an NFL D coordinator, and he may not even get the job.
I like Lupoi a lot, I hope he sticks regardless of what capacity. Same with Tucker. Whoever they get, if they can keep anything near the continuity from this year's group I would be a happy camper

I wonder sometimes because you spew random jibberish like Lupoi not having experience...
I mean, if you ONLY watched Bama games, never read articles, and prioritized your information based on espn articles I could see where you come to your conclusion... maybe.... but, but , but..... Lupoi > Tucker for 1000 reason you dullard

If memory serves me correct....Pruitt started out as an off the field coach (administrative role) just like Lupoi. I think Pruitt was on the field (LB coach) for two years, may have just been one before he left to got to FSU for the DC position. Too lazy to double check all that.
I said all that to say this. Pruitt rose through the ranks quickly from not being on the field to being DC in 2-3 years. Lupoi could very well do the same.
For my money, and I don't make 7 million a year to make those decisions, I would feel out Tucker and see what he feels about staying in the college game. If he wants to get back to the NFL or if he would be happy to be a successful DC in college.
Didn't Tosh do the GA thing because Washington was paying him a settlement thus any money Bama paid would deducted from that pay. Tosh was out recruiting yesterday so makes no sense if Nick thought he were leaving. UGA has to retain JP or fired him and until that is done then he will not be at Bama due to money he will be owed. The lawyers will have to handle.

As I said in another thread. Tosh is the next great up and comer. He was the lead recruiter that landed several studs at Washington that all went pro last year. He was a staffer two years ago only because we were waiting to clear a spot for him on the field. Letting him get out of town would be a big mistake. Promote him and give the secondary coach some imput , a title and a raise.

Whether he gets the job or not, you're still wrong in that he is "just a GA". He has much more experience than just a film jockey. But maybe you just don't look into ones background and instead only look at what they have done at Bama.
By the way, Saban once coached at MSU. I'm just giving you a heads up in case it startles you when they start showing that stuff as the Cotton Bowl nears.

He was a GA at bama 2 seasons ago. From GA to DC in 2 years at Bama would be a very quick rise considering Saban would have to give him the keys to the best D in the country.
I'm sure Saban will hand him the job though since he's 1,000 reasons better than Tucker. Or maybe Saban's just a dullard and can't see the forest through the tree's, right?
I'll look forward to revisiting this. If I'm wrong I will man up

Lupoi is not and was not a GA. He was an analyst. He watched film.
Before that, he was a DL coach.
After being an analyst, he was promoted to OLB coach (because sometimes people get promoted if they earn it).
He has more experience than just watching film. He was promoted to coach LB for a reason. He was brought in for a reason.
You're a fucking idiot if you think he's just a GA (which he wasnt) and that's why he shouldn't get the job. Guess Saban should have never been a coach either since he was a GA....

In my original post I said he was a "GA or Defensive Staffer". That is accurate.
You can call it an "analyst", Saban called it an "Intern". Bottom line is, he was on the staff but now allowed to coach on the field. That's just a fact - No need to get defensive. 'Intern' Lupoi latest high-profile UA staffer
“He's going to be an intern that helps us some in recruiting, a lot in the electronic media part of recruiting, which is something that we feel like we need to improve.”
Yes I think that's a big jump at Alabama, going from being an intern to a DC in 2 years. Obviously you disagree. I've not mentioned one word about prior experience and have not disagreed that he has it. At Alabama, Intern to DC in 2 years seems unlikely to me.
We're both on record. We'll see what happens. I don't think Saban is a dullard if he hires Tucker though.
