🏈 Thoughts on Miami's AD using twitter to voice "unacceptable" performance

No way Richt comes close to those dynasty years unless they start rounding up the south Florida talent again. And that hasn't happened by a long shot. Back in the day, they had so much talent that even a Larry Coker or Dennis Erickson could get them to the promised land.

There is a lot of pressure on Richt and right now recruiting isn't getting the Hurricanes back to the top. I'm sure the next recruiting day is motivating a lot of this. According to Bones, we have a DE, Chris Vogel, that's maybe trending back to us and away from Miami. it was a rough season.

Coker and Erickson inherited almost perpetual motion recruiting there for a while.
I can't put Erickson and Coker in the same sentence together (outside of them both being Miami coaches.)

I get the knock on Coker--title in first year and six years later he's 7-6. I do believe there needs to be an asterisk here. His first three years they were playing in the Big East, then the move to the ACC. That third year marked the downturn.

Erickson, on the other hand, won a title at Miami during his third year as well as his first. Sure, he benefited from what Jimmy Johnson left. That third year it was pretty much his program. There's the conference title his sixth year at Miami that has to be weighed.

Erickson left a sanctioned program.
Coker left a shell of one.

Whether you can or can't, Erickson ain't winning 2 NCs anywhere else but Miami. Talent is talent and if you have the supreme talent it becomes the great equalizer for anything coming down the pike. Kirby, for example, doesn't remind me of any great coach I can think of, neither did Richt before him. He will win big based on pure recruiting talent in Athens. Just the way it is.
