Hey guys, question here. The following article refers to several players not making the trip. First, does this mean they'll redshirt? I know some are injured and out (i.e. Hightower and Square). Second, I saw some of these guys on the Kentucky charter (Ming & Pharr to name a couple). Why would they go on the charter to UK but not drive an hour and a half down the road? Just curious.

From al.com -

DRESS LIST: Former Vigor High standout B.J. Scott was among the Alabama players not included on the travel roster for the Mississippi State game. Scott moved from receiver to defensive back this past spring and is thought to be redshirting as a true sophomore.

Others not making the trip included: Wide receiver Kenny Bell, running back Mike Marrow, defensive back Wesley Neighbors, linebacker Ed Stinson, wide receiver Travis Sikes, linebacker Jonathan Atchison, defensive lineman Glenn Harbin, defensive lineman William Ming, defensive lineman Brandon Moore, offensive lineman Anthony Steen, offensive lineman Taylor Pharr, wide receiver Kendall Kelly, wide receiver Kevin Norwood, tight end Undra Billingsley, defensive lineman Chris Bonds and defensive lineman Darrington Sentimore.

Also absent from the dress list were injured linebacker Dont'a Hightower, running back Jeramie Griffin and defensive lineman Damion Square.

With a limit on how may can travel, depending on the week, the guys left behind are going to differ. For instance, Jerrell Harris didn't make the trip to KY, but he's on the travel squad now that his suspension is over... so that bumps someone to the "left behind" list. Also, the type of team we are playing can cause the names to change... vs. a spread team... an extra DB may make the trip leaving behind a lineman, etc...

And yes, barring some disastrous injuries, that is a list full of redshirt'ers.
