💬 There's a problem in America right now with sports bar TV allocation.

I can only remember actually going to a sports bar to watch a game once. Hell I don't even like watching the game with other people (friends). They don't take the game seriously and want to talk and have conversation while I'm trying to help my guys pull out a win.
AMEN!!!! Here I was thinking I was all by myself on this. I try one time watching Bama play at someone else house. It didn't go to well. Even here at home, April know and family too, not to call are try talking during any Bama game. If I did go to a sport bar I may be the first one to be kick out.

Holy cow. It's the middle of the season and they're wasting time on that? I've never had a situation where I've been denied a channel change. That being said, the only time I can recall watching a Bama game in a bar was an away game and I'd agreed to go on a little day trip with my wife to check out the shops and dining in Cullman. Damned if it wasn't the MSU game when Tua broke a hip.

I miss Smokey Bones. They had an individual receiver for every TV feed in the place so you could pick and choose which game. (Also had a GREAT chicken pot pie they served in a 8" cast iron skillet...dayum that was good.)

The premise of the article is "someone was cheap." When we had the grill we had over 30 TV's, on Direct, and every one had their own box. When we opened the Pub it was 13 or 14...all different boxes.

The arguments were which game was on the projector(s.)

Back when Bama was under Shula I was watching MSU one Saturday when I was in Oklahoma. The "lady" of that era was bitchin' about me watching the game that Saturday afternoon...little knowing how bad Bama was.

I too have only watched 1 Bama game in a bar (that I can recall). It was the Houndstooth in Chicago (RIP) outside Wrigley... It was the 2007 Bama vs. Arkansas game, a wild one. Since it was a Bama alumni bar and they had a ton of TV's and such, it was a cool experience, but nothing I'd ever do again probably. I've been on vacation several times since when Bama has played and I always just watch in the hotel room (or condo when at the beach). I don't mind watching games with certain people though... and have with a handful on here. That I'm ok with. The more casual fans though... can't do it.

I remember that. You posted pics and talked about it here or the old Tusks page. Wasn't the wife at a pharma/CME conference. You manage to always make the most of those trips. I thought that was the coolest trip!!

Watched 2 that I remember. One was Bama vs auburn and I was in long Island for a Navy class. Walked into the bar and the only other guy in there had a freaking auburn hat on. Other was vs tennessee when Cody blocked the kicks, had to go to the in laws for some reason and they didn't have tv.

I've had 2 that were sorta agonizing while traveling... first one was also in 2007... we were in Utah and about to leave the hotel to go to the airport to fly back home. I think that game was PPV maybe? I know I was having to listen to Eli via the computer via some shitty hotel lobby wifi and it kept cutting out. I finally just pulled up the ESPN play by play (Gamecast or whatever they called it back then) and used that. That was torture. Near the end it felt like it took 2 minutes between every play update on the gamecast.

The next was the 2015 Bama vs. UGA game. This time in Boston airport and boarding the flight right about the time the game kicked off (I had already seen the little pregame skirmish they showed). Well, the wifi on flight wasn't working (shocking) so that made for a long flight. As soon as I got a cell signal landing in B'ham I checked the score and saw Bama was kicking their ass. That was a good feeling. Got home and watched the game later that night on either the DVR or a replay.

I've had tickets, good seats, in BDS and walked down to the Houndstooth to watch the game (when it wasn't downtown.) I've shared this story before. I watched a Bama v Vandy game at a bar in Mt. Pleasant with Darwin Holt. I met him at the bar, noticed the ring, and didn't say shit about it until late in the fourth quarter. I knew who he was...just didn't say anything.

There used to be a bar on The Strip called "The Back Porch." Again, with tickets, used to go there to watch games.

Geez. A few years ago I drove to Cola just to watch a game with the local alumni group there. I wanted to see what they were like now a day.

The one BIG difference here is this ...

IF I'm watching a game at a bar I'm rarely talking to anyone other than the bar tender. IF I'm at a bar not watching a game, I'm talking to EVERYONE.

Y'all remember when ESPN had "The Zone" in Disney? I watched one there as well just for the experience. Ohio State bowl game, I think? I remember more about the golf courses than what game that was...
