🏈 The trials of Dabo...

I get similar threads below this one. @Brandon Van de Graaff this is the one you posted on Jan. 12, 2023: Report: Dabo sets to hire Garret Riley. I remember someone here wanted him. But it looks like he isn't helping. I'm thinking we all get these because it almost the same thread you are posting.

Daboo's little run is over.

I don't see him having another micro burst of national title success like he did a few years ago, so in that sense, I agree. I wouldn't throw a tombstone on his career there just yet (to use a stupid Clemson tradition), but he's going to have to swallow his pride and be willing to bend on transfers and such. He's also going to have to get closer to the bullseye on his hires going forward... Riley has been disappointing, but losing Venables was a big blow that he didn't recover well from.

Hard to stay on top when you lose your top coordinators and haft to rely on your own coaching abilities and your ability to bring in top coaches and not miss a beat.

We have been blessed with a Coach that can actually Coach on the field at a high level and knows what he wants . And he can also be that C.E.O. that runs your company like a Fortune 500 and hire top assistants on a year in and out basis and stay pretty doggone consistent.

We’re in rarefied air right now.

Eventually we’re gonna be in for a rude awakening if the (powers that be ) FA with the next hire and we haft to FO . Like post Stallings , pre Saban. That was some tough years to be a Bama fan. I can remember just hoping for a New Years 6 bowl.

Hopefully management has figured it out though. I’m sure they have.

But nobody is nick. If u compare anybody to nick. It don't work

Dabo will be fine.
Great alabama guy

Personally, I saw Dabo done when Elliott and Venables left. When Bowers leaves I see Kirby coming back to Earth too. It's lining up that one team for a couple years that sets a run. Watson and Bowers are the two guys these coach's needed.

One thing to factor in too is that this expanded playoff is going to make it even harder to sustain championship type runs... it's another hurdle added in an already long season. And there will be injuries to key players like QB's (or the Brock Bowers' of the CFB world) that happen in the opening rounds of these playoffs that then derail (better) team(s). It's a two way street in that teams like Alabama can sneak in when they have an off year similar to this season or last, but this expanded field is going to be one hell of a wild card. There will be a narrative change sooner or later among fans and media where making the playoffs will be a major victory akin to making the Final 4 in basketball, because the realistic expectations of winning it all are going to be thrown for a loop, IMO.

Will be 2 things.
1... making cfps
2....survival in cfps

Those wierd week days in major travel and weather elements. Plus wear n tear on
Bodies. Plus matchups

Exciting for fans. Not so much for coaches n players.

.

Just looking at that clip of the play, the RB definitely expected the handoff along with the blocking of the OL. Dabo was wrong though to throw Klubnik under the bus. Bad look for Dabo.
As @Brandon Van de Graaff said, Dabo is going to have to adjust to the transfer portal and find the hire that is the best fit to his program and get out of their way, or a possible playoff spot in the expanded CFP will be out of reach.

Coaches call the plays. The players responsibility is to execute them not go rogue and take matter into their own hands.

One of the true measures of Saban's greatness is how he was able to keep Alabama winning like a machine despite the constant turnover of coaches and coordinators. Absolutely amazing. Sooner or later it has to catch up to a program.

I do not disagree. Lots of football there to stay healthy for and to keep players happy with.
