The group had a meeting yesterday and from what has been reported they've moved nowhere. It's still the same thing we've been hearing. It's 12, or 4, not eight.

This tweet shows how absurd the autobids would be.

If a team, from any conference, can’t get into the top 12, they don’t deserve to get into the playoffs. Twelve is too many to have the “best” teams in. A team with two losses isn’t a best team. A team with three losses isn’t close to being a best team.

I think if a Team has more then two loses even if winning they conference. Should be not able to get into any type of playoff!
