šŸŒŽ The state, of the State of Minnesota:

I know well qualified white guys who didn't get a job due to affirmative action. I'm sure they didn't feel the same way you do. Race/ sex should not be a factor in hiring. Making it one makes it racist/sexist.
As I said I’m sure it happens, but my violin for oppressed white folks is pretty small. We wouldn’t need affirmative action or other things if there wasn’t a need to help make things fair for minorities and women, now we can go too far the other way too, but as you very well know men and specifically white men are the least oppressed people in the world

You're basically saying it's OK because it only happens a little bit...

How would you say Asians are oppressed in the US?

Really any race? What we don't all have are the same parents. Just because I didn't have the money that Trump was handed does that make me oppressed? Because someone grew up poor in a single parent home?

"In simple terms, oppression is when a person or group is treated cruelly, unfairly, and with severe restrictions by someone with more power, making them feel burdened, controlled, or like they have no freedom, often through unjust laws, social norms, or force." Show me a race that this is done to in the US.

This country offers the greatest opportunity for people of all races. Some choose to put in the effort to seize it and some choose to blame others for their own laziness. Jmo.

Late 70's I believe? I knew a white guy who worked for the fire department. He and a few other highly qualified whites were passed over for promotion. Reason? Affirmative action. Law suites ensued. Some years later, the suit was judged to be reverse discrimination.

Most people work for what they have, while others try to slide by with little work as possible as if the world owes them something.

Affirmative Action was created with an intent to correct past wrongs in discrimination toward minorities. In trying to undo past wrongs, less qualified individuals were promoted over more qualified individuals, particularly in Federal, State, County and Municipal hirings. Once hired, in an effort to move minorities into leadership positions as quickly as possible, promotions were also awarded to those less qualified and tenured. While this may have moved the needle when looking strictly at the numbers, it created significant unrest within these agencies/departments, it impacted performance/service, and it created an appearance that all hired and promoted minorities were chosen for their race and not competence.

In my time, I found those most sensitive to and disgusted with this process were my high performing minority counterparts. They were the quickest to take action against poor performers, with some even having suits filed against them for discrimination - in itself laughable, but they have the right to file. I've been sued and have had to go through the EEO process, even when I've hired a more qualified minority over another minority.

The unwinding of special programs for a particular race, or women owned businesses, is a good thing. Compete on individual merit, and take individual action if you believe you're a target of unfair treatment.

It looks like I'm going to have to watch a little CNN to satisfy my curiousity. Based on what I've read over my first cuppa ... CNN reports that they called a bunch of day care centers, one answered and said we aren't committing fraud, so ... that's means Shirley's reporting isn't correct? There isn't the fraud that's alleged?

I know this is really simplistic, but I'm going to say it anyway.

If we go back a decade and look up Somali in a key word search I'm almost willing to wager we'd see "Somali pirates" mentioned more often in the news than any other stories out of that country.

So someone thought it was a good idea to invite people from a country that is known for theft and piracy here ... only to find out they are doing the same thing. And people are shocked?

She’s not wrong to a degree
In every degree she's wrong. "The white man. It's his fault."

How did she get into the position she's in today? Was it merit?

IF the success of the white race is due to "the family system" growing in "whiteness..."

...that also means the opposite is true.

The lack of success found in other cultures is due to "the family system" and growing up in (name the ethnicity) family settings.
