Tennessee Wins Recruiting Title
Knoxville, Tennessee - Tennessee football has once again won this year’s recruiting title, and if Butch Jones’ measurements hold true the Vols are well on their way to becoming “Champions of Life” again this season.
“We target five-star heart,” Coach Butch Jones said yesterday morning to a gathering of boosters sitting in the back booth of the Waffle House off I-40 in Knoxville.
The implication of Jones’ statement is that many of the state’s higher rated players don’t really have much heart, otherwise Tennessee would have pursued them more vigorously, or as Jones puts it “bigly”. Jones’ only five-star (physical talent, not heart) hailed from Jackson, Tennessee and now floats amid a sea of three-star (physical talent, not heart) teammates.
Unable to procure much of the state’s top football talent due to their lack of heart, Jones will rely on players’ sheer determination and willpower to overpower and outrun the best in the SEC. Thus far, Jones has yet to even win the SEC East, but as of press time the timetable of how long it takes for five-star heart players to win is unclear.
After Jones’ talk yesterday morning, and a quick visit to the little coaches room, all present celebrated his fourth straight recruiting title with hash browns smothered and covered and eggs over-easy.
