šŸˆ The Gators are getting some hype. Top ten rankings from Athlon, Lindy's, and Street & Smith.

i agree with 50+... with may be a 25% chance of being a 10 win team. They are developing a solid team down there. not flashy but... i was impressed at times last year with their fundamentals. I think they need that Florida running back tho... They just haven't had the guy in a while.

But 6&8. To much....probably a 8-9 win team

Two things to consider; schedule and precedent.

Schedule: Find four teams they'll lose to this season. I'd imagine the first team you'd pick would be UGA or LSU. LSU, currently giving 2½ to Florida with their home field advantage and UGA who is giving four.

The oddsmakers are putting UF and LSU even, UGA with a slight advantage. At least one of those is a toss up, and then you've got to convince that Auburn could beat Florida, or any other team.

Last year four of the final top 10 (AP/Coaches) had three losses or more. In the CFP rankings, UF came in 10th.

A top ten finish...very realistic.

Dont disagree...for once...but....its the accumulated schedule that may get them...
Sometimes hard to say ...looking at schedule...its this game or that....but the game after game.... but..right...may be a 10-2 Season....
But Florida doesn’t have depth and talent to survive much adversity.... 3 or worse...still not a top 10 team...

NY6 = New Years 6

Orange, Peach, Fiesta, Rose, Cotton, Sugar bowl games.
Thats 12 teams making up the NY6 ( thanks terry , learned something new) and 4 in playoffs...... so good chance for gators
Their schedule is favorable. Mullen good HC.
Could be a 2 loss team but probably not.
SEC E isnt that tough. Non conference of Miami and FSU isnt that tough either
Yeah, NY6 team in another boring game vs Big 10 school

Miami, FSU, with the barners and LSU out of the west this season and I can see 3 losses and more if they have a few key injuries. If they lose only 3 to the right teams by the right scores at the end of the day they could hover around the 10th spot. But we're talking best case scenario for this team.

Loosely, that's reemphasizing the comment I made to @50+yeartidefan earlier about UF being a top 10 team. A Gator team with three losses, coming out of the SEC, has a really good chance to be a top 10 team by seasons end.

We likely wont' consider them to be a top 10 caliber team but I feel a lot of that is a unintended result of looking at the top three or four teams and naturally expecting them to be close to the same caliber. As example, LSU and UF were both top 10 teams last year but were no where close to being on the same playing field as the final top four. To repeat such a feat seems reasonable.

(Like 10 wins seasons, we're at a point where a top 10 finish isn't really definitive any longer. See a four loss Texas team last season)

That's the thing about taking the top 8 teams in the playoff. The quality of play can quickly drop after the 4th or 5th team.

That's been one of my things about expanding the playoffs from the first day we heard someone suggest such.

Oh, it's coming. Politics pretty much guarantees it these days. The only thing the playoff committee can do when it happens is to seed lesser teams higher and some of the better teams lower in the pecking order. Otherwise, it should get real obvious, real quick how many really good teams there are.

Well.....what’s really happened is...
The top 2 are so damn good.....makes the rest look unworthy.....
Except on occasion....ie UGA in 17 and Ohio State in some year they beat bama...
A 5, 6,7,or ,8 would have been as good as Washington, ND, Mich State, etc
Me....i would have liked to seen a big10,big 12, other s in playoffs.....
Maybe helps teams play better NC schedule ( like Bama) so one loss doesnt kill them....
I believe it will improve the football season with less .quanenteed wins ...and more competition.....
