From what I understand, the Feds (specifically the FBI) are getting involved with the agent investigations at North Carolina, Alabama, and other schools. Looks like the pressure from folks to get this activity nipped in the bud might be working after-all. I know this, if I was an unethical agent/runner involved in any of this, I'd be a wee bit nervous knowing that the Feds are apparently looking to make some examples out of some folks.

That's all we need. The morons in the Federal government setting a precedence by regulating college football because the NFL agents crossed state lines. Gee, if we cross state lines to play for the National Championship, should they regulate the outcome of that, too? Dangerous, slippery slope. I hope they stay the heck out of it. Once they get started, there's not stopping them... :frown:

I agree in principle with what you are saying, though if federal law has been violated I'm all for nailing the perps. The best solution that I have seen offered is for the NFLPA, which has 100% control over whether an agent can represent NFL players, use its powers to prevent these characters from working as an agent for an NFL player. This nails them right in the pocket book.(Not surprisingly CNS offered this good idea.)

From what little I understand of this issue, it seems that the Feds involvement would require a very broad interpretation of interstate commerce law. As we've seen over the past 9 years; just give them an inch and they'll take a mile.

No sense in making a Federal case out of this thing. Allowing the NFLPA to deal with it sounds like a great solution to me. It makes sense to handle it at that level.

I don't see the downside of going after agents who break laws and by doing so put teams like UA at risk of being hit with sanctions.

I don't see a downside in letting the proper authorities go after them, either. I just don't think the Feds are the proper authority in this case.
