It was not a reversed call or a turnover...it was the TD on 4th and 4. LSU stepped up and made the play when they had to. That is why they are ranked 3rd in the nation.
There is no argument against the fact that they have more talent on the team than we do. Their coach has also been there for two years. That makes a difference - even this late in the season. While it is true that we made some mistakes that cost us the game, the same could have been said for LSU had we won the game.
I am not upset at the outcome...to be honest, I was expecting to be destroyed. Saban coached our players to play above their ability. When we get a roster of 4 and 5 star talent, he will coach them to play above their ability - and that is how champions are made in this era.
Congrats to LSU. You will win the west and probably the SEC.
Ohio State is not very good. Their record is built by a feast on weak teams in a weak conference...BC is in trouble to FSU and you guys have a good chance of winning it all. The fact that 17 of your starters are Saban recruits is irrelevant. You have them and Miles for all his faults is one lucky guy. You may just win it all with him. I don't know if Miles will leave for Michigan or not...UM does not have an opening right now.
I don't think your recruiting under Miles is as good as it was in 2002/3/4 (though it is still good). In 2004, your recruiting class had 16 players rated 4 stars or higher. That is incredible - more highly rated players than we signed in 03/4/5/6 combined! Saban is changing that. We are recruiting lights out now. We will close the talent gap every year and I think you will drop off some next season and I think the SEC will come down to this game again. It will probably be that way for a while, no matter who roams your sidelines.
See you in Baton Rouge in 2008.
