Texas got 39 first place votes to our 26. We're only 17 points behind, though.

That being said, it doesn't matter right now.

Texas jumped you guys in the AP poll as well. The coaches poll doesn't surprise me as much as the AP--I figured surely you guys would jump to #1 in the AP.

I guess all of this is irrelevant though, you'll probably be #1 in the BCS polls when it comes out next week. All but one computer poll had Bama at #1 if I heard that correctly on GameDay yesterday.

Why is Southern Cal (4-1) ranked higher than these unbeaten teams---Penn State, Texas Tech, Brigham Young, Oklahoma State, Utah, Boise State, and Ball State?

Southern Cal lost to Oregon State, a nobody team.

Polls are pretty much what I thought they would be.

Don't you know Rev. Nutt and his Rebs would love to knock off #2 in Tuscaloosa like they did to #4 Florida at the Swamp?

Sure hope the Tide has a great week of practice and are extra motivated to defend their spot after watching the likes of Oklahoma, Mizzou, and LSU fall.

My wife was driving me nuts last night going on and on about the dang polls  . I couldn't down the beer fast enough  . In the end I told her not to be so caught up in them right now. If we do as we are supposed to do as a team, everything else will take care of itself. From the other thread, the season starts now in terms of the team playing consistant and finishing for the second half of the season. RTR

We better be focused and ready or else we gonna get the wood laid to us.

Why am I not surprised? SC, UF, and OU are quality teams but it is absolutely ridiculous that they get to jump an undefeated BYU team. They can't even bring up the argument of "quality opponents" this year because Coach Mendenall scheduled UCLA and Washington early just for this reason. BYU has played just as much if not more quality opponents that the aforementioned teams have.

What are Texas's quality wins, other than OU, this season? FAU? Arky? Rice? Colorado? We have beaten 2 top five teams away from home this season and not to mention a team with a top 3 defense. These polls are a joke and it is a travesty we have to rely on these lists of "who's who of media darlings".

Sorry for ranting.

The only polls that matter are the final poll, locking in the rankings for even, and the one before it which bowl selections are based upon.

If one assumes this is true, then why has the release of the BCS poll been delayed until mid season? Why not at the quarter mark, or November, or the end of the season?

By the way these guys think. Then why wasn't Oregon St. number #1. They did beat the No#1 team a few week ago. ;scr

Just to put this in perspective...

We received more votes this week in the AP poll than last week.

More votes in the Coaches Poll as well.

Sagarin dropped us one place to #4.

Colley's Poll dropped us from #1 to #2.

At this time, Massey hasn't been updated as of yet and Anderson hasn't as well.
