Since this is the only other SEC/Big12 game, what are your feeling on this one? I think Tech will be shut down like what happened with OU (not to the same degree, but shut down still the same). I just wish we could play Texas just to shut these Big12ers up over here.

I like Tech in this one.

Ole Miss, despite having a great defensive line, has possibly the worst secondary in the SEC.

OU controlled Tech the same way we did in '05. Breaking down the pocket (doesn't mean sacks, mind you) to disrupt their QB AND having their defensive backs play tight coverage off the line not allowing their receivers to get into their routes as quickly.

I don't see Ole Miss being able to do that.

I don't see a 50+ point game on the Tech side, but I do see them being a little too much to handle for Ole Miss.

All that said...their defensive line (Ole Miss) should be the unit to watch in this game.

Ole Miss' offense approach will probably be a lot like ours...run the ball a lot and go to play action with Snead.

Should be a good game.

I'd go Tech by @ 10 right now...35-27, something in that area.

I think you are spot on. The only caveat I might add would be the variable of how Tech's QB handles getting hammered. I think the Ole Miss pass rush off the edge will get to him.

Also, a blowout loss is possible in this one, even though it should not happen. Nutt has a way of screwing up preparation against some teams. I have never seen him prepare for a team like this one, but his coaching job for USC in 2006 was one of the worst ever. No way USC should have won that game the way they did. Won it - yes. By a 50-14 score? No way.

That's the one area of Nutt's career I can't find a reasonable explanation to explain. When he has a team that he's facing in the regular season, he puts his coaching hat on and seems to come up with a plan that works a lot of the time.

When it comes to bowl game or the SECCG for that matter, he must forget what hat he was wearing earlier in the year.

What is his record in post season play? I want to say his winning percentage is .200-.300...somewhere between those two. 2-7? Does that sound right?

I don't see Tech having success running the ball unless they have forced the Rebels to drop 7 back in coverage. Then, and likely it'll be late 3rd or 4th quarter, it'll be because Ole Miss is out of their game plan.

This is a game where the Rebels need to keep it close to start the game off...if they end up letting Tech score on their first 2-3 possessions it could get very, very ugly.
