🏈 Talking about Texas jumping Bama on ESPN2

Kirk and Brent talking about Texas jumping Bama to #2. Citing QB play as the difference maker. Hardly seems fair while we are idle, but it is what it is. Florida plays a VERY weak Georgia team and Texas had fewer total yards and less TOP. Score never tells the whole story. Big 12 always has Big Score - defenses suck. Oh well, not much we can do about it. Maybe it lights a fire in our bellies.

At least we may FINALLY be able to put USC to bed. Oregon having a field day.

Rankings at this point are irrelevant. We won't drop below 3 if we continue to win, and IF we continue to win, the SECCG will put the winner in the BCS National Championship game.

The polls will work themselves out. We just need to keep doing what we are doing.

Musberger (and a lot of the media) would nothing more than for Texas to jump us. You'll likely hear a lot about that this week from the usual influence panderers.

Bingo. I don't care either way. Keep on winning, things will fall into place.

We are a bit beyond the need to look good in the pollsters eyes. It is simply "win-and-you're-in". Focus is squarely on LSU this week. Thats what I want to see from the fellow fans as well. This next game is the biggest game of the season yet, and if we dont go out at full strength then we probably wont even make the SEC championship, and the rankings wont matter then.

I said last month that I could care less about rankings in October. Well, the same goes for the first of November, especially during a bye week. The talking heads are going to talk because that's their job. They're going to offer opinions because it draws an audience. Let's not worry about what they have to say.
We still have 4 games left to play before this regular season's done. Let's go take care of them and our own ranking will be secure enough.

This is a good spot to be in. Polls are powerless, as long as we win. Save UT-Chatt, we do not have an opponent that CBS/ESPN can ill afford to not build-up as dangerous. LSU as a Top Ten and still in the running for the NC. Miss. State with its two pick-sixes on Tebow against our sputtering Offense. Auburn who ran off 5 in-a-row and beat Ole Miss soundly. Then there is Florida. Polls are powerless against an undefeated SEC Champion.

And if Bama kerbstomps LSWho next week, whilst Texas beats UCF by less than they're expected to, suddenly the mediots start gushing over the Tide. Let's face it. These are good teams, but there's enough parity that anyone can look bad if they have a bad day and the opponents play well. We needed two FG blocks to beat Tenn (ignoring the fact that they wouldn't have had the chance if they hadn't recovered an onside kick, which is unlikely in the first place). UT doesn't beat OU with a healthy Bradford. FL doesn't beat Arky who Bama destroyed, unless they get some serious help from officiating. Then they go and turn it on against Georgia.

All these teams have games where they look like worldbeaters, and games where they look like they 'should have' lost. Good thing is, it's likely to be settled on the field.

Good post. It really is a beauty pageant and no one seems to consider the entire body of work, just the last game played.

That being said, we were number 3 before we leap frogged Texas and if we keep winning, all the rest will take care of itself.

Yep, the positioning of the top three is not really important at this stage, so there really is no need to worry about it as long as the Tide remains in the top three.

I'm a little concerned about Oregon's migration toward the top; I'm sure there will be a good share of sportswriters, particularly on the West Coast, that will hop on this flying v as the season plays out.

It's time to take care of the Swamp Kitties.
