It was an overcast day in Tuscaloosa on Friday afternoon so the team went inside for practice before Saturday's scrimmage. Here is what I saw during the one-period shortened media viewing period.

Redshirt freshamn quarterback David Cornwell went through drills in the second spot. I've heard good things about him, and I hope to have some inside scoop for you after Saturday's scrimmage. Cooper Bateman worked with the quarterbacks and not the wide receivers.

Freshman Deionte Thompson worked with the wide receivers after working at safety during all his time on campus. Split wide right, wide receivers went through drills in the following order: Robert Foster, Derek Kief, Parker Barrineau and Deionte Thompson. To the left, it was: Chris Black, ArDarius Stewart, Raheem Falkins and Armani Purifoye.

Alphonse "Shank" Taylor worked some at right guard along with Bradley Bozeman.

A'Shawn Robinson wore a boot on his left foot and rode the exercise bike beside Cyrus Jones and Denzel Devall.

I'll have a full report from what Saban says following Saturday's scrimmage.

Alabama went through its 11th practice of the spring Friday afternoon, working on its indoor field after it rained in Tuscaloosa Friday morning.
What we saw

-- Defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson worked off to the side and had a large walking boot on his right leg that stretched from his foot to his knee. Robinson suffered a sprained ankle and sprained knee during practice Monday.

-- Cooper Bateman was working with the quarterbacks during the portion of practice open to the media. Bateman was wearing a black jersey - usually reserved for quarterbacks and injured players - for the first time in several practices.

-- The top two groups at wide receiver remains the same. Chris Black and Robert Foster formed the first pairing. ArDarius Stewart and Derek Kief were the second group.

-- Freshman Deionte Thompson worked at wide receiver for the second straight practice.

-- Freshman running back DeSherrius Flowers appeared to have a wrap on his right hamstring.
